I don't think you understand the differenc between Japanese and "Real World" (tm) stop and go. 10 MPH is normal cruising speed here - well, almost. I often commute by bicyle here in Tokyo - 22 Km one way - and I can make it to work WAY faster than any car. Nonetheless, I would not recommend watching TV while driving, although I see a LOT of people doing it.
I suspect it was a bit of a flop..
A bit? I am afraid it was a BIG flop. (I played with one a couple years ago or so, WAY to flimsy, way to underpowered.)
You can find them CHEAP every now and again in the "used" shops in Akihabara.
yes one can save US$25 by bying a PCI wireless card, but then one is "locked in." With an adapter one can use any PC card - cardbus, actually.
Anyhow, the point is that, while it's cheaper to roll your own - I have made a LOT of these boxes - it's not for everyone. The extra money gives you your time back, and some kind of system warranty.
I guess I must look around for a better case source, a case like the one they use costs me to 75~80 bucks. I like the quietness of the external DC power supply though...
don't forget the: 1. US$ 100 or so for the PCI-> PC-CARD addapter and the wireless card. 2. US$ 60 or so for the case. 3. The time to put it all together.
... I have seen several cases with external power supplies in Akihabara in the last couple months. These are regular ATX cases, not the small ones made for the Epia boards. (Maybe sold under the "Windy" brand???)
I have to cruise Akihabara in the morning looking for some "junk" so I could get the details...
So if the USPS delivers my mail to your house, then you have the right to open it? (HINT: The answer is NO.)
But if the USPS delivers a sealed envelope where the name and address have been, accidentally or not, washed out, into my mailbox I do have the right to look inside, no? Else how would I know if it's mine or not? If I may open it, I need a paper knife to do it. The same paper knife can, of course, be used to open your mail, should it end up in my mailbox. So, should I not be prosecuted based on whether or not I used my paper knife to open YOUR mail, rather than based on whether I have a paper knife?
If you can somehow make use of the emissions from a dead-end electrical connection without even touching the box or property belonging to the electric company, I'd support your right to do so.
I think you might be wrong. I am too lazy to look it up, but, I am quite sure that the courts have rulled against this. Some guy was "sucking" power from the powerlines strung over his property(farm???). Power company noticed, sued and won.
Next time you're in Japan - Kanto area - look me up. 1993 Toyota Supra Mark IV - tricked out twin turbo model. Ok, so in Japan is not really an "import", but I believe you meant an "import to the US."
You can't ignore the most influential computer company, with multiple crucial monopolies, simply because they're risky to deal with.
Right, and that's why you hire lawyers which are supposed to look over any "deals" before you, as the company representative, sign them. I'd say that chances are overwhelmingly against Microsoft being found guilty; no, not because they will "buy their way out." If one wants to play with the big dogs, one risks being torn apart. Perhaps not fair, but last I looked there was no "life is fair" guarantee.
I see them all the time in some of the "junk" shops in Akihabara. Also, they pop up all the time on Ebay, as others have pointed out. So, if you really want one, try e-bay first, if you can't get one, send me an e-mail and next time I do a "walk about" in Akihabara I will pick one up - about US$ 5.00 or so, but shipping might be more than that...
Just because Reuters, AP, etc report the "plain facts" it doesn't mean they are unbiased, nor does it mean that they have no agenda. Keep in mind that what is NOT reported is often at least as important as what is...
the funny thing is the URL to that page ... :-)

I "admin" a few 6.2 HEAVILY used boxes that will never be upgraded. There is nothing extra a newer release has to offer. If it's not broken ...

Err ... roll back a few years. Netscape ruled. If you mentioned IE you were laughed out of the room.
Today...???
So, just because today the MS offering does not rule the world, it doesn't mean that will be the case in a couple years.
Please spare me the "IE sucks" comments, we are talking about market share...
(Posting this from Mozilla on a freeBSD 5.0 box, in case anyone cares.)
Don't let the MSRP fool you. It will be awailable for far less in Akihabara ... check out www.kakaku.com.
There are multiport NICs out there, you know. :-)

Actually, I do mean he did it WITHOUT attaching to the wires in any way shape or form.
Still too lazy to look it up though.

(does there exist one [DVD player] yet, for FreeBSD?)
You are a very funny person. No, really.
This is what capitalism is all about.
I would say, "This is what North American capitalism is all about". (Not that _I_ find anything wrong with it.)

Although you might well be right, keep in mind that web UA stats are not necessarily accurate, nor are they necessarily meaningful.

It's called humor, look into it!
;-)
Easy for you to say "look into it". How about next time you provide a link, eh?
are we perhaps confusing TB with tetanus? ;-)
sure it works. But, I think you missed the point. The way I read question is about a terminal before the GUI is started.
17" 1280x1024 @ 49000 Japanese yen - you do the math for currenncy of your choice - is not bad at all. (Decent quality Mitsubishi.)
Afraid not. This kind of adapters have been available for quite a number of years, and I have yet to see a change ...
