Once every few months he loads all the boots in his car and "dumps" them at the gate of one the smaller police stations in the town, since in the country he lives in right now it's the cops that put the boots on. He thinks this is funny.
If you have nothing illegal on your boxes there little to worry about. Yes, you could be hassled, and even have your stuff seized for a while, but, if you're 100% clean you can counter-sue, and make a lot of TV/radio/media noise.
I, for one, refuse to allow *AA - well, the Canadian equivalent - to intimidate me. And, yes, I am aware of the potential hassles.

Someday, when you have a longer vacation, take a drive in the poorer parts of the US, mostly, but not exclusively, the South. You will find US citizens who live in conditions that would make being your maid in a larger more "civilized" city a huge step up.

Would you feel good about paying a few hundred bucks a month to some "mexican" girl to be almost the equivalent of your slave? If yes, I think you will find that you'd be quite a bit better off financially to have a maid. If you get her to drive you to work and pick you up as well, you'll be even further ahead. It, basically, comes down to how willing you are to "exploit" someone; which is a function of how _you_ define exploitation.

If you use Linux/*BSD most desktop file managers allow seamless SFTP access to remote places. If you are a Windows user "SftpDrive" is your friend, gives your $HOME a letter under windows. Pretty much guaranteed safe transfers as they all go over SSH. Also, if you chose your hosting company carefully, they can't be subpoenaed to release your data. Makes sharing files with your buddies easy to, as all you have to do is drop their public keys in your "authorized_keys" file.
2.5" drives are slower, so the data falls of the platters slower. Therefore, it's less likely to spill out of the bit bucket that is placed under the computer. When the trucks stop the drivers pour the bits back in.
So, 2.5" drives lose less data.

You haven't lived in any of the mentioned countries, I would guess. The level of racism in places like Japan and Korea would never allow that. (I spent 15+ years in the area, and I know - I think I know, anyway - what I am talking about. Although, I must admit, I have only experienced blatant in-your-face discrimination twice. From a company's point of view married employees are a better asset. There is a LOT of evidence showing that. Sure, it might not apply to me and, perhaps, you, but, statistically speaking, companies are better off with married employees.
I know several people who got married just so they get ahead in their companies. Mind you, once they got to a certain point - point where their bosses knew them well enough - they happily parted ways with their spouses.
Also, I have heard - hearsay... grain of salt...etc - of guys who married ladies from Russian/Filipino/etc bride catalogues, just so that they can get ahead in the company, while at the same time feeling good about having "rescued" some wretched soul.

(Note to would be moderators: please observe the use of "almost" before you start bitching.) My most recent "standard setup" includes EPIA M1s in Aspire cube cases - http://atic.ca/index.php?page=LongDesc&sku=27476. Use a LianLI EX-23B for the RAID drives and the space inside the case for the system HD, and you're ready to fly. YMMV, and all that.

In my neighbourhood, Linksys has competition, and it's not from "fon", it's from some company called "default" with a close third from "wireless"...
So, put their router behind your own - say, in a DMZ - and QOS it to your heart's desire. Problem solved. No?
