"Boston Consulting Group estimates that self-driving cars may account for a quarter of global auto sales by 2035." If it isn't required that ALL cars are self driving in the US by 2035, I will be very pissed off. I moved to Seattle 7 years ago. Horrible drivers, just horrible.

  3. I can tell you first hand. My now ex wife started in on a degree in programming. About 1/2 way she decided it wasn't for her in spite of getting all A's. I forced her to finish and she graduated with honors. But she couldn't find a job because people in interviews can tell it someone is passionate about programming and she isn't. Long story short, we are now divorced and she is very happy as a nurse.

I can tell you why there are so many jobs in tech for MI. People forget about it but, in 2008 we all got laid off, like literally 30-40%. What did the laid off people do? We left the State. Now companies are thinking dam we needed those people. I live in WA now. I can (and have) get a job offer in MI with 2 phone calls. I can't say its that easy in WA.

It's kind of different out here. Back in Detroit for interviews, I was normally put in front of a computer and asked to write code. Pretty practical, and I did well. For whatever reason, out here everyone loves the whiteboard, run though a binary tree on a whiteboard, wtf does that have to do what what you are actually going to be doing? Nothing, but Google, Amazon and MS all have you do it, so everyone else copies it. Hard to put you on the spot like that over the phone. Also your timing isn't the best, right before X-mas holidays. The guy then started telling me how great is was and if it wasn't super nifty for everything why did Sun recommend it, etc. My response, if it was so great, why didn't Sun use it on their own site? Everyone in the room laughed, and I didn't get the job, not that I wanted it after that.
