I believe they should be using Python for teaching now. It is not masochistic and frustrating like some of the "professional" languages. You can learn procedural or OOP with it. It comes with very good documentation. It is available in Windows, unices and the Mac. It is very complete, with bindings and libs to do almost anything. It is not too verbose and strict (I'm thinking Java here)
Pity they're going with Java for beginners nowadays...
No, these are twisted smaller wires, uninsulated, acting together just as a cable. This is not twisting as in twised pair, since the connectors are in contact and thus become a single connector. The other connectors in the "pair" are the lines that run separated and parallel, thus forming an antenna...
Thinking coldy, even if one would support a war on Iraq because of, say, oil, you'd like to make it so that the US could get cheaper, more stable supplies of oil. But a barrel just hit 50 USD this week.
Probably not in your best interest, but in Halliburton's best interest, maybe. If you are in the oil business... 50 USD a barrel doesn't sound bad...
For some years now, there has been at least one Linux distribution. Zipspeak is a variant of zipslack (Slackware for UMSDOS)that supports several voice synth cards.
The Speakup Project produces a screen reader that is used in the above distro.
There is also a Knoppix based distro called Oralux, that will also support braille terminals (these are usually one line at a time vt100 emulators) connected to a serial port.
I know this does not solve the map problem, but this, along with Links, for example, will give any vision impaired person far more tools that are available in Windows, for instance.
This is the reason why modern games are starting to belon in gaming consoles. There, game programmers are targeting the plattform instead of programming and then hoping that HW will catch up. Particularly, I prefer a console that costs less than the video card I'm suppossed to buy to be able to run SuperDuper1stPersonKilla V1.0
Everything will glow red, it's a function of the temperature, so it does not make a difference if the material can withstand it or not... actually its glowing is a good symptom that it has not been destroyed;)
I've wanted this for months now. A "laptop" that instead of advertising the newest P4 processor for Barbecues (R) gives you low power, ARM (XScale) computing at the right price. Of course, It has to run linux. Good one!
How about a two-layer DVD full of FLAC tracks, maybe 48kHz 24 bit audio.... I mean, as opposed to the CD, the filesystem is alredy in there.... that'll be 9GB of compressed lossless audio.
Anyone but Bush.
Four Rooms, swell...
18 billion gigabytes should be enough for everyone. (God, I hope this time I get it right)
Pity they're going with Java for beginners nowadays...
RTFA before modding this whatever...
Yeah, right! oh, wait....
It is a Roman name. It is pronounced "LEE-nus" in Latin. 'nuff said

They found out USB drives may be used to "steal" data!! what's next? Floppy drives?

Hey, what a coincidence, I have an Inspiron 600M waiting to be shipped from Dell as we speak! 512 MB, exactly as you ordered (1 DIMM)

Sorry, I really really had to do it....
"Gallina" means hen (in Spanish), and it's also used in the sense that one use, in English, "chicken".
Probably this rodent can...
He's completely right, just not in the way he intended. You'd have a hard time making the cluster as expensive as the supercomputer....
Each VTY consumes RAM, sice it's spawned by init from bootup. With screen, it's pay as you go...
No, it will not, it is proprietary 86 compiled code. So this will not work in an ARM or XScale unless you get the source, port and recompile... =/
And here I am, waiting for iTunes Europa...

Modern cryptologist stumble at the meaning of an inscription in a tshirt, found in a time capsule. The insciption reads: AYBABTU
2.6.6, the Kernel of the Beast
