  1. Tell me about it. on Pain of Rejection Scientifically Proven · · Score: 1

Every time I get modded down it hurts a little inside.

  2. I know... on Sonic the Brain Chemical · · Score: 2, Funny

I'm desperately trying to discover a signalling link to violence that I'm going to call Grand Theft Auto.

  3. Everybody is missing the point on Microsoft Confirms IE Changes in Wake of Lawsuit · · Score: 1

How long will it take to condition users to blindly click through this box at the first sign of it's flashing open? How long after will pop-up ads appear looking exactly like the box? Then everybody in the world will have a homepage either pointing to Gator or Pornography. Personally I'd rather have my homepage point to Goatse then Gator.

  4. An easy work around on Tickets for Tracking Players in Casinos? · · Score: 1
Just hold the tickets aside and play with something we mere mortals call MONEY. Cash out the tickets at the end of the night instead of shoving them back into another machine.

In any event this is kind of a moot point since most people are playing for a free buffet and use those cards.

  5. That depends on How Do Managers Rate On-line Universities? · · Score: 1

That depends on how much the university cost. I would be more willing to take seriously an online degree that took a couple years and several thousands of dollars to complete then a quickie diploma that cost a couple hundred bucks.

  6. Re:solution to spam on From Artist To Spam-Hunter · · Score: 1

So human resources at a >100 employee business can't send a quick message to every employee? At some point there will be a legitimate reason to send out multiple messages. A law like that would basically kill off telecommuting.

  7. Diamonds on Dog Genome Sequenced · · Score: 1

Tracy Hall was bitter that his coworkers at GE might get credit for synthesizing diamonds in the donut press so he went out and developed a totally new way to synth Sp3 carbon-carbon bonds in a tetrahedral press. If I was Ventner I'd make sure I found a couple more genomes. Just so everyone knew who the real genius was. After all there's a Nobel Prize out there for someone in the genome business.

  8. Re:See it in the US on Doctor Who Comeback · · Score: 2, Funny

Oh I thought all the TV in that country was BBC. Then I guess there's no chance of seeing Benny Hill either.

  9. Re:See it in the US on Doctor Who Comeback · · Score: 1
How many redhead babes in America don't wear bras on prime-time national tele?

Ummm Most of them. Anyway the parent is correct... BBC America really needs to dig up some of those early gems like Dr Who and The Prisoner and ease up on the home improvement shows. If we're not watching the TLC americanized versions of "Changing Rooms" what makes them think we want to watch the brit versions?

Oh yeah, the American version of Coupling?.?.. Sucktastic!

  10. Good luck on Creating Your Own Printer? · · Score: 1
I recently priced poster printers for our lab. In theory, at $140 a poster at Kinko's, we'd pay it off in 3 years. But the boss say's no. I'd really be interested in hearing if you got this running.

For me I think the drivers would be the hardest part to come up with. I could tinker with wormgears and other such hardware all day. But I'm not much of a programmer.

  11. OH man on Gaming Soundbites You Can't Forget · · Score: 1
There's this one sound from an 80's video game that I hear in techno songs a lot. It think it's from starcastle when you go through the space warp. But I may be remembering a totally different game.

Somebody get this freakin duck away from me!

  12. GTA3 on On The Quality Of Videogame Commercials · · Score: 2, Insightful

That Grand Theft Auto 3 commercial with the mafia guy saying "You do this and you'll be a made man" that ends with a car jumping over the footbridge accompanied by opera music. I like my video games to have a story and Damn if there wasn't a good narrative to that commercial. That commercial made me want to get a PlayStation just to get that game.

  13. Re:Chinese Threat Spurs Americans to Explore Space on H.R. 3057: To the Asteroids, Moon and Mars · · Score: 2, Insightful

I couldn't agree with you more. What NASA needs is competition and since the Russians are happy to simply service their niche market there has been no real reason for us to innovate. I hope the Chinese give us a run for our money. Maybe then we'll get off our fat asses and do some running ourselves.

  14. Aren't cell phones protected. on Blocking Annoying Cell Phone Callers? · · Score: 3, Insightful

If you get into a fenderbender with any kind of boat (regardless of purchase price) you risk sinking. In any event, in a craft such as that I'd be wearing a life vest.

  16. CS101 At SSC on Big Company on Campus · · Score: 1

Salem State College requires all incoming freshmen to be proficient in MS Windows Apps. The textbook series was published by Microsoft and included a CD that would only run on Windows containing weekly quizzes programmed in Macromedia. It made me sick.

Who owns the frequent flyer miles? The company who paid for the tickets or the traveler who risked deep vein thrombosis?

I think the answers to these questions are the same answer you seek.
