    "manly" ? No. Socially inept, yes, but most of the really good coders I know are. (And yes, there are exceptions to that as well. But even amongst really good coders, there are the occasional, for lack of a better term, 'superheroes'. I only WISH I was that good. . . )

    As one of those wierd hybrid geek/managers, I get called in to . . ."translate" on occasion. The pure management MBA types often can't deal with them well.

    Incorrect. I know quite a few women coders. I even know a few really excellent coders who are female. They are not common, but any really excellent coder isn't common either..

  12. You might want to look at the "Rules of Engagement". When the rules on whether to shoot back or not, run multiple pages and several flowcharts. . . . I think I've pinpointed the problem. But the Pentagon seems more worried about optics than victory.

    There's a big difference between dropping a precision munition, on the wrong target, and flaming the entire valley with incendiaries. We're just not usually willing to do that. . .

    And those of us inside TRYING to put the dumpster fire out are stymied at every turn. I have a program that refuses to produce ANY documentation, "because we're agile". Another one had lost all track of a bunch of equipment. Until I was assigned to close out the program. . .and found it was all at the last location listed on the 4-year-old documentation.

    Security patches get waived by programs "because we don't risk downtime". Even if the patching was planned to occur during scheduled downtime

    As one of the nuns at my elementary school was known to remark. . . it makes Baby Jesus cry. . .

    And as for the FBI and the Virtual Casefile. . . .they had also bought an entire warehouse of gear to support it. Which sat there for years, in boxes, until they finally killed the program. And then PAID someone to take the unused gear off their hands. . .

    Or I drive my IC car to a gas station, fill up in two minutes, and am back on the road. . . And even though I live in a major metro area. . .there are a grand total of 4 SuperChargers. . .

    Logistics is what **currently** makes EVs unsuitable for regular use for most people. . .
