They're going to pour money into STEM at colleges? The big companies and filthy rich individuals have been getting tax breaks at the expense of education for so long the public schools can barely teach people to read, forget about STEM. It's been great for the Republicans- unsmart people do what they're told and vote Republican, but they aren't going to do well in STEM programs in colleges.
Maybe we'll have to let immigrants into those STEM programs... Hmmmm.... Maybe we'd better close the borders.
Republicans aren't racist. They don't care what color your skin is (unless you try to marry their daughter). The thing they fear the most is educated people.
to Trump's vanity. He has no vision. Everything he does is looking backwards. Bring back coal, go to the moon; what's next, fly a hot air balloon around the world?
Even if we go back to the moon, will Trump supporters believe we did it?
The only way to build ethics into anything, including human decision making, is to start with facts. These days, stupid people have a loud voice, amplified by social media, and use it to claim "alternative facts" which aren't facts at all, but they are stupid and don't understand what a fact actually is.
Are you going to base ethical decisions on "alternative facts"? I don't want to be around for that, but here I am.
How are you going to eliminate politics from the programming process that will train these AI devices? Whose ethics will they base their decisions on?
Sure, understanding today's complex world of the future is a little like having bees live in your head. But, there they are. And like the young lady said, " I say live it, or live with it!"
Imagine a world where everyone was so focused on their day to day survival that no one had the means to rise above that struggle and look at the big picture and steer us toward a brighter future. I thank God that those generous, wealthy people, who do what they do because they care about the rest of us, exist. What would we do without them?
It's lucky for the rest of us that the visionaries who run the best schools understand the need to have the best and brightest lead us out of our darkness, and have structured programs to fast track those people into positions of power and authority over us.
only a (small?) portion of the population sees in 3 dimensions because one eye dominates. If you're showing two different images to the eyes, won't the dominant eye see whatever is in front of it while the brain tends to ignore the image seen by the other eye?
They'll always have a human in the control loop until some other country takes the humans out of the loop in favor of the much faster machine reaction time. Then they'll say "we don't want to, but we have to take the humans out of the loop because those bad other guys did." Fortunately the machines will already be ready for full autonomous operation simply by flipping a switch...
is going to expose the glass to all the abrasive stuff in your pocket/bag. The fold area is going to suffer the greatest wear. How many micro scratches acting as stress risers will it take before it breaks, with sharp edges waiting for your hand?
Folding phones is a dumb idea that no one -except phone makers- wants. Now a folding phone with a notch, that's something else entirely. I WANT one of those!
loan sharking. Apple will become a huge loan sharking operation that uses their phones to get into your wallet (instead of the more traditional sports book). How else is Apple going to get people to spend more and more on new phones? They're already over $1k. Right now ATT and Verizon are capturing all that revenue. I can't imagine they are going to be very happy about Apple's moves to take that revenue from them.
The same thing is happening in many industries. Corporations are buying up individual and group owned dental practices and doing a lot of advertising on TV. Under their careful and care-full management, many, many more people get the dentures they "need" for "affordable monthly payments". A word of advice: if you spend more time talking to the staff about financial arrangements than you do with the dentist, find another dentist.
In Russia or in the US?
and who and what it's for. It's obviously for criminals, cheats, liars, and thieves.
Why is anyone else using it?
A recent local news article said that Foxconn was starting to lease its land (did it grab it from farmers through imminent domain?) to local farmers.
I guess some of the build-out plans have changed...
Is he ignorant, stupid, amoral, or very clever and just milking the system for all it's worth?
I blame antisocial media for elevating stupidity to an art form and for turning people who should be ignored into celebrities.
I wouldn't be surprised if they find out the heme is extracted from blood, not actually produced in a lab using plant materials.
they need to stop being so awful. Anyone still using facebook after all the crap they've been recently found to be doing is intellectually challenged.

I'd say something about "hamberders" and Trump here, but I think I won't.

using in-duh-vidual 1's tweets!
Except that one of those doesn't exist and the other does.
Like climate change, it doesn't care if you believe in it or not.

in the DC area, specifically, the White House.
They have to identify you before they can lower your score.
