Wow! Really? it commits Hari-Kari if it just SEES any of these programs? I should be OK then.. as I have 6 out of 8..
I've NEVER believed the party line about zero probability of geting malware on a Mac..
However, on a PC, malware doesn't ever behave like this , that I've ever seen.. instead of committing suicide, PC "Pests" try to disable the AV's..
I have never heard of a virus or trojan just saying "sorry" and immolating itself, upon running into AV program.. How polite...!
I wouldn't be sorry.. These same companies are also responsible for driving true musicians out of the field.. pushing the lowest common denominator of "art" such that it served solely as a marketing tool to induce *more* sales of "product", product which is solely designed to induce consumption of *more* product, in a vicious loop where the product and the advertising for it are one and the same..
And 'Art" for arts sake...? the money boys won't touch that, sorry...
Even if they would, where could one perform anyways, now that the theatres are either alll defunct, or geared for electronic music only..
Jazz.. Blues. and Fusion..? Those of us who perform these forms are no better than those that play the lotteries hoping for the "big win" except our chances are much worse.... If however, we make a video of our art, throw in some sex and violence., or perhaps get a 3 year old to perform it, we MIGHT get lucky with a viral video..
As far as I'm concerned.. the CBC has my FULL SUPPORT!!! Go CBC Go..!
Serves 'em right for thinking that OLPC can increase the I.Q. of the average teacher.... and since 99% of people use their computers for web browsing, email, and media downloading and viewing, i bet that without internet these things would simply become be fancy paperweights after the novelty wore off..
On the other hand, if Peru ever gets improved access to the 'net, at least these kids will already know how to use these things.. so it is waay to early to write off the results as 'disappointing'...
It just so happens, that just last night I was looking for Reel to Reel tapes, of a certain album, that was digitally remastered poorly, with audible dropouts in the CD, but since the Reel to Reel was taken directly from the sub-master inmmediately after mastering, it would have been a superior source for this album..
However, I got priced right out.. this field is waay too rich for my blood.. any albums of note seem to be at least 100$ to 300$.. certainly i am NEVER going to be able to afford a beatles reel.. looks to me like , art least online, Reel to reel never left.. And the album i'm looking for.?. There were no copies.. but i'll keep looking.. and better start saving too.;-(
They "distrust" science?... But they watch TV, use the 'net, own a tablet and or desktop, drive to work, buy clothes made of semi-synthetic materials, eat food threted for health reasons, go to doctors when they're sick.. right.. they better stop all those things.. because they're all only possible because BECAUSE of science..
What a ludicrous, reactionary, and totally pointless article and header..
Sounds to me like you have useless freedom of information laws down under.. I am pretty sure that it would require a threat to national security, or exposure of classified information, to get out the black marker, in America. Possibly the same here in Canada, and the UK, too.
| Dammit! What have they done to our Internet?!?!| "They" have taken back "Their" internet.. they just let us poor plebes tool around with it for a bit, so it could be improved, and then "they" took it (or are in the process of taking it) back.. remember.. it was ARPANET first.. and as far as "they" are concerned, it only exists to keep the "serfs" in line..
I'm pretty sure, from what I've seen, that you have no rights of any kind in the UK.. oh they may exist on paper, like here in Canada, but the exercise thereof implicates your guilt...
"It's , like, all magnets, Carter"..That's what I thought they were referring to, a kind of mag-lev solution.. I suppose keeping the house from sliding off would be a problem.. but so would power generation, as in the case of blowing air under the house.. Wouldn't building a house on a humungous set of shocks instead, be better? I believe they already do that too..
What's that game where you knock down a peg with a wooden mallet, and two more pop up before you have a chance to knock them all down..Is this how it's going to be with endless attempts to control the internet too? Perhaps what we need is an internationally agreed internet "bill of rights and freedoms" with the force of law..although since it's the very same people trying to curb the net that would have to draft and enact this bill, I think it's unlikely we'll ever see it.
Rich people aren't less moral because they're rich, They're rich because they're immoral.. the things that they do to make money would give most people pause..
Seconded..that was *my* first thought also.. it must surely disable, or block the body's natural endorphins, which help in a wide variety of situations from stubbing one's to to scalds, etc.. and then you'd have folks with possibly severe chronic pain issues, which are often the very factors that lead to dependance on opiates in the first place.. The mechanism that controls pain is directly related to the "euphoria" effect, and not separate, inasmuch as opiates do not directly block pain receptors, but rather lessen the "unpleasantness" instead.. THis is why aspirin or other pain relievers , that *do* work directly on the source, are so effective in tandem with opiates...
It's a fascinating algorithm.. and I betcha it works.. just the consistent mis-spelling of woords, and capitalization Errors , plus idiosyncratic placements, of the commas.. would likely bring the "suspect" to light.. unless of course, the errors were.. intentional !
....Generally speaking, tracing a serial number will get it to the store that sold it to me and not much further...
Uh.. no..unless you pay cash.. and cash is on it's way out.. most larger items are ALWAYS bought via interact or credit cards, and at the very least, all stores keep records of customer's purchases for customer service reasons.. the fact is, if they've got the serial of the machine.. they've for sure nailed the owner that purchased it NEW... unless lept secret, the "dot" idea is ludicrous on the face of it, and simply an easy out to avoid further hassle from the law.. as no criminal worth calling one that (except perhaps those on "America's stupidest criminals") would volunteer their name and address, as well as the serial of the machine they intend to break the law with, unless they *didn't know* about these dots..
Hey maybe they should subcontract their mint operations to us.. It only costs 1.8 Cents to make a penny in Canada..[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penny_(Canadian_coin)] surely the Americans are doing something wrong if it cost them 2.4 cents..Anyways, seems theres a move afoot to make all of our coins out of steel (unknown source, likely the nightly news though).. Or, y'all doun south could do the "Fort Knox" thing and make em all out of gold painted wood...
Why the hell does M$ even *care* about IE? I can't see how it improves their bottom line, or anything..why not just sub with, say, Chrome, or so.. (Although i wouldn't be surprised if they signed up Opera instead of a (IMHO) better one;-(
Privacy is an inherent human right, and a requirement for maintaining the human condition with dignity and respect.
Yes, I tend to agree..There are some basic rights and freedoms tat are universally agreed upon by all nations and religions, even if these rights sometimes are denied, it does not exempt them from *being* rights..
Unfortunately, all our human "rights" in Canada are conditional, and can be changed or taken away by a stroke of the legislative pen..
This never used to be the case down south of the border, where the constitution expressly forbade arbitrary removals of all the rights guaranteed by your constitution.. since 9/11 however, clever , or perhaps simply criminal, minded US lawmakers have found ways to abrogate these in order to "protect public safety".. and the deep shade of brown on the noses of our leaders over here should tell you that we're next..
What was the whole point of the "Cold War" if we now try to become the new U.S.S.R. instead?
I went to the prairies every winter back in the early 70's to get easy to find work.. usually within 5 minutes after stepping off the train.. sure did see a lot of black hats.. also assembly -line clothes..That can be bought "in any color, as long as it's black"
Actually, are you aware that the latest train of thought supposes that rather than sharing a common link with Neanderthal, we evolved overnight so to speak, due to a yet undemonstrated influence , and in fact, true neanderthals are with us today, as bigfoot and related relatives.. apparently our bone structure could not have evolved from Lucy and her ilk.. even with the most highly imaginative "missing link".. Just saying...

Mine ( a Honda accord) certainly DOES put on the brakes.. I noticed it , in fact , when going down a steep incline..
