I think a lot of slashdotters will buy it, honestly. I know I will.
Why? Because I've wanted a Mac for a while now, but havent been willing to part with the cash for one. Now there's a nice one in my price range. Will it be top of the line? No. But that's not the point. It will be good enough for me to get the Mac experience, and maybe from there I'll decide that a real high-end mac is worth it.
22, not living with parents (I'm in a completely different state, in fact), and I make over $40k/yr.
I own over 300 DVDs.
and so, I say to you, get off your high horse. I download from time to time, but I see more movies in the theater and buy more DVDs than any 5 people I know combined. Do I always buy/go see what I download? Hell no. Sometimes the movies suck. But I do if they're worth it.
I own (that is, bought, paid for, own legally) approximately 300 DVDs.
I download movies from time to time. Sometimes they're not out on DVD (yet, or ever going to be). Sometimes they are but I havent bought it yet. Sometimes they're just movies I've never seen, but dont want to risk the cash on if I dont like it.
Would you throw me in jail for that? I spend more money on DVDs every month than most people spend a year. I go to the movie theater at least once a month, usually 2-3 times.
I make the MPAA more money than any other person I know, and yet I am (as far as they're concerned) an evil pirate who should be imprisoned.
I dont know why this got modded troll, because frankly I agree with it largely.
Burton is a great director, and I think that his directing this movie will be a great thing. Granted, the parent poster is being a bit overzealous in her expression of it;) But that hardly seems like cause for a "Troll" moderation.
I'm pretty sure I'm an american, AND not a christian. Amazing, I know. Sorry to go off topic like that, but we arent ALL bible-thumbers.
On Topic, however. Do we, as americans, have a right to pollute just as much as we want? Well, as far as I can tell, yes we do. If we want to pollute til we all day, it's our right to do so. Now, you might feel that it's NOT our right, because in doing so, we might take the rest of you with us. That is a valid concern. However, most of us over here just dont care about the rest of you. We tend to have a very strong attitude of "nobody else matters". It may not be right, but its the way it is (not everyone here is that way, but I'd safely say the majority - including myself).
Logitech sells a Pan-Tilt-Zoom version of their quickcam with motion tracking (they call it face-tracking). It shouldnt be too hard to marry the two together I wouldnt think.
Did you know that many turbochargers can actually INCREASE your cars fuel efficiency? Not all do, but it's true that many can. They're not cheap, and you likely wont get more than a few mpg gain, but you cna do it.
My Asus A7N8X-X board with an Nforce2 chipset is happily running Gentoo with a 2.6 kernel. Everything works that I'm aware of. However, I dont know about support for the Nforce3/4 chipsets, so YMMV.
Yep. Not just the US Navy either, but the Army as well. I have the misfortune of having them as my network/computer support at work, and it's really sad. Most of their network guys come to me for help, and I'm a Video Teleconferencing Engineer, not a network guy.
Of course, I cant bash them too hard. I'm hoping they'll hire me;)
Anyone know if Bontago will run under wine? It looks like they only have a windows version, but it looks like a pretty sweet game, and I'd love to give it a shot, but I dont have any windows boxes anymore.
You must not have looked very hard. They had nearly every bad religion CD listed, as well as 5 or 6 rancid cds. They only had 2 of Green Day (1039, and Kerplunk).
I've noticed all the people who complain on here about them are electronic fans...
I honestly havent used them myself, but browsing their catalog, they do have a VERY nice selection of Punk music (my genre of choice), and I will probably sign up for the trial at least when I get home tonight. They have a lot of non-mainstream stuff, they just cant cover every possible genre of non-mainstream completely.
Oh believe me, I understand (I dont even have a degree, and I'm just 21). You're right, all the positions REQUIRE 5+yrs exp and an existing clearance. But you'd be surprised how quickly they drop those requirements as most people dont apply. The security clearance can get you, but really, as long as you're elligible for a clearance (i.e. you're a US citizen and have stayed out of major trouble) they'll consider you. The only reason they might not due to the clearance issue is because clearances cost them a LOT of money (in the 10k dollar range), and once you have a clearance, you're pretty much guaranteed a better job elsewhere. Heck, if you're willing to take one of the overseas positions, you'll be raking it in as you get a large portion of your income tax-free.
Really?
IT jobs are pretty easy to get in DC if you're a US Citizen and have a pretty clean record. Just get a gig with one of the manygovernmentcontractors.
Good opportunity to pick up a security clearance and have job security.
I hate AOL BECAUSE they allow newbies on the internet so easily. Because then I have to deal with people (AOL users) coming to me because they cant figure things out if it's not packaged in their pretty AOL world, and in some cases cant even figure out the things that ARE in their AOL world. They dont accept that not everyone uses AOL. They dont accept that AOL isnt the internet.
They're loud, rude, generally obnoxious, and make my life miserable, and I'd be happier without them.
I find that at my current job, I'm bored and feel like I'm pretty much wasting my time (dont get me wrong, I'm grateful to be employed, but I dont enjoy my job anymore). I've noticed that this has led to a sudden decline in my unused sick days and vacation time, and certainly does have me regularly updating my resume and keeping my eyes open.
lots and lots of Napalm. Nothing keeps would-be thieves at bay like Napalm. Except maybe Landmines, but they're a bit harder to get/make than Napalm is.
Let me start out saying that I am a Jackie Chan nut, and I DO own this DVD. Having said that... The subtitles are misspelled, make no sense, and frequently have words that are obviously made up. Parts of women randomly turn into food... and there's a song and dance number by a pair of chinese guys in black leather/spandex biker outfits... Jackie Chan even dresses up as various street fighter characters(including chun li) and fights at one point. Aside from some impressive fight scenes, this is in my opinion the worst movie of all time... Even worse than Manos.
I've got to be honest.. the Fred Savage Princess Bride idea is BRILLIANT. That would just kick so much ass its not even funny!
Lets face it, Enterprise is a waste of airtime. However, if you took this route with it, it would suddenly be worthwhile. Even better would be to combine your two ideas. Fred Savage reading it with the young Kirk interrupting.. hrmm.. interesting.
Back when I had my camaro, I built a nifty computer mp3/music video/misc. media player for my car.
Shuttle PC in the trunk 5.6" LCD mounted in the dash IR Remote Control to run it, with a touchpad in the center console in case stuff broke.
It worked great, for the most part. Occasionally had some stability issues with the chipset on the board, but that stuff got fixed later. When I get around to building one for my new car (miata) I probably wont use a shuttle, because its not as small as I want for the application, but its still a damn good small box.

Seriously, a little howto on this one would be really handy ;) I'd love to get this setup here at work.
Since when are americans Christian?

radio???
I dont have one.
Not in my apartment. Not even in my car.
Of course I dont have a TV hooked up either, but I do _HAVE_ a tv, and I could hook it up if I needed to.
So, I guess in the event of a natural disaster, I deserve to die for not owning a radio?
that's weak.
yea, right now they're hurting for people with clearances. If you've got one, you can do remarkably well, despite the economic downturn.
;)
lol, I despise Bush, but I have to admit, if it werent for his absurd defense spending, I prolly wouldnt have a job

jumping the springfield gorge on bart's skateboard and missing... and then falling out of the ambulance, and falling down the gorge a second time...
its the Bart the Daredevil episode.
Yes, I have no life.
Napalm
