    It seems that a dose of hard times does wonders for a populations attitude in life. I keep thinking back to my grandparents' generation and what hard-working no-nonsense people they were, unlike my parents and their protesting of this chicken-shit war or another. No wonder today's generation is so good at whining. You just wait until your country gets invaded and then you'll see how quick you gain back the respect for science and engineering.

    Nobody's locked out of anything, the source is there and you are welcome to fix it.

    It used to be that people complained about lack of specs useful for writing drivers. Now people complain about the vendor not writing the actual driver! Kids these days...

    Let me also suggest viking, an open-source GPS data manager. In addition to caching map tiles, it is also a GPS route editor useful for planning trips, doing trip analysis, etc.

    I respect Asimov, but the three laws are pretty naive. I thought localroger's (from kuro5hin) robot stories were far more in line with how intelligent design might be done and turn out.
