Like any reference, use more than one source, use some critical thinking, and don't leave your manure detector on the shelf. With those caveats, many educators find it just fine. The problems arise when students offer the first Wikipedia result from Google as their sole authoritative source and take it as gospel. No source deserves that treatment. Not even the gospels.

Actually from recent feedback, the Roombas will be just the opposite of the Pleo - briefly useful then endlessly amusing (as you clean them, or try and get support, or watch it as you put the same piece of dirt down in front of it several times to make sure it gets picked up - actually I think that last one is from a standup routine that got laughs of recognition from the audience).

AIBOs have seen their day but they got a lot more people "ready" for robots and from my experience like LEGO and VEX got a lot of kids interested in doing something under the hood.

I'll second that second. Use both. A good craftsman can use any tool, old or new. An analog in science is when I teach kids to graph data. First we do it with pencil and paper. it can be arduous (lotsa time series data). They grumble. Then we do it in Appleworks (for simplicity's sake). They see how quick that is, and are upset of a minute or two, but they now know how to actually do it, and how to hire a computer to do it. Then I convert it to .xls and show them the big guns. Usually I'll hear "so that's what Excel is for" 'cuz odds are they never actually used it for much. Kinda like knowing how to make a hole with a brace + bit, a power drill, and an excimer laser.

I don't get it either. If Jammie DLd those materials, just charge Jammie what they would have made on those DLs. It looks like they're going after all the sharing that took place through Jammie, then thy should try and go after all the DLs beyond her for actual damages. Was this a jury of people who had never heard of any of the backstory to all this? RIAA says burn her. Jury says burn her. DOJ says burn her. The rest of the world says hold on. It's like OJ's trial. They managed to find the only 13 people in the US who didn't think this guy was guilty as hell and got them in the same jury box.
