Wasted a trip? I walked across the kitchen to the nearest working computer, which was about 6 feet away. I don't know, maybe for you that's the equivalent of a Battan death march.
Of course! Then I could've had enough space on their for pkunzip so that I could unzip winzip on my box, install winzip then unzip the zipped files necessary for my nic drivers, which will enable me to further download zipped files in the future and the latest versions of winzip with which I will use to unzip said zipped files!
I used mine last night at a lan party. Had to re-install Windows, went to install the drivers for my nic, realized the disk was at home, had someone download them and put it on a floppy. Not really worth wasting a cd for a 500k.zip is it? Of course, Winzip is almost 1.44 megs exactly, so I had to use the disk twice.
>>Perhaps not. But that doesn't mean that one cannot be compassionate, uphold ideals, or stand up to tyrants.
You obviously don't know what a Tyrant is.
>>Then again, I don't see the fat, greedy sharks you are so eager to defend, being all that needy either
Just because I attack one side of something does not mean I favor the opposing side.

Yeah, the cells are overfilling with people in there for that.
It had more to do with the way slashdot regurgitates and repost's entire stories about things we already knew in some attempt to stur up anti-microsoft sentiment that inspired my post.
Routers story: Microsoft announced today they are changing one of the business plans of one of their departments for a limited amount of time in order to better compete with linux.

MICROSOFT, THE SCURVY DOGS OF REDMON, HAVE ADMITTED UTTER DEFEAT!! EARLY THIS MORNING, BILL GATES HIMSELF, THE HIVE MIND OVERLORD, WAS DRAGGED KICKING AND SCREAMING INTO THE STREET WHERE HE WAS JUSTLY AND FAIRLY BEAT TO DEATH BY 20 SCRAWNY, PALE TEENAGERS. THIS IS A GREAT DAY INDEED FOR LINUX FANS, AND LET IT BE KNOWN SUCH IS THE FATE TO ANYONE WHO MAY CHALLENGE OUR O.S.
You mean to tell me a stable os might pose a challenge to a buggy one in the IT market? Ahh, get out. I don't believe it.

Sysadmin Day. Yay.

I'm in the process of attempting to rename all the servers at work to the names of employee's girlfriends/wives. That way we can run around all day saying things like "Damnit, if Jenny goes down on me one more time" or "Samantha is the best, damn thing services hundreds of guys daily". And when your on call you'll get pages like "Message from Julie: Emergency, need servicing immediately." and then have to shield your eyes after your wife sees it.
That was the most pointless rant ever posted on this forum. You spouted a bunch of random facts that together made absolutely no sense.
Let me let you in on a little secret..Linux will never, ever be a desktop OS for the simple reason that only a fool wants to do something the hard way. This has nothing to do with education or laziness or drive. Because for every 1 person you show me that calls himself an avid linux user I can show you 10 people in the business world that want an OS that's easy to set up and use. Reliability and Security? Let the tech's worry about it, it's not their problem. You seem to think only in right and wrong, black and white. Try thinking like a business man and you'll see: their is no right and wrong, only cheap and expensive, hard and easy.
But you go ahead, keep the dream alive. While you live in that world, I'll live in the real one. The Linux Desktop will never exist.
Well not everyone that has a computer is going to be into it as much as another guy, which is completely fine, of course. Gabe was just ragging on the uber-bored that think Linux is cause for a holy war. I for one, have sworn to choke the shit out of the next guy I meet that is convinced running a counter-strike server on his out-of-date redhat linux server makes him a hacker.

Not that I disagree with you, because I don't, but I believe Civilization, Heretic 2, and Q3A were all million sellers in their linux versions.
Linux on the XBox: Now you aren't playing a damn thing.
Yeah, but it won't correct you using the wrong /.
It won't squeek and wake your folks.

Fuck L. Ron Hubbard and fuck all his clones.
No one reads user friendly anymore.

I just love the Slashdot news filtration system:

Cecil: I'll thank you not to refer to Princeton that way.

Damn that was bad.....I was thinking you could strap this to your hand while you "flog the bishop" and call it the world's cheapest phone sex.
Fox: Find you soul mate, Homer.
Homer: But how?
Fox: This is only your memory speaking, I really can't provide any new information.
Put down your copy of "The Princess Bride" and step away slowly....
Yeah, Duke, but what do you do when the problem is bigger than just re-installing Acrobat?
Yes, but are you taking into account the additional weight of a flux capacitor?
