  11. Like others have said, on How to Test Your T1? · · Score: 1

Do not order the T1 unless the CSU/DSU (Channel Service Unit / Data Service Unit) is ON YOUR PROPERTY. This usually means you have to buy one, which is usually in the range of $700, give or take a few hundred. I wouldn't trust an off-site CSU/DSU.

At this point, you know for sure that you're getting the 24 channels @ 64k. The only thing you have to worry about now is if the ISP's backbone can support you, which is going to be a problems with EVERYONE at the ISP, not just the T1. For example, I have 1.5mbit DSL. Not the same thing as a T1, but we're both tied into the same aggregation circuit. In that case, do NOT trust the speed test from the ISP's FTP since you are going to get your 1.5mbit from the ISP, that's not an issue. The issue is getting 1.5mbit from an FTP CLOSE to the ISP, within a few hops.

So again, you're gonna get 1.5 to the ISP aggregation circuit. Easy. Getting 1.5 OUT of the ISP is what you're concerned about. Although as soon as you hit the ATM or frame relay cloud it's smooth sailing (or OCx, depending on the ISP).

Or, screw the T1 and get frame relay yourself with the appropriate CIR.

This is way cool. I took my roomate's Dave Matthews DVD, popped it through this program, and out came a burned CD in either DTS-CD, DD5.1, or regular CD. Way cool, and perfectly legal as far as I'm concerned. I'm making a backup and/or transfering the media to a different format.

And the original article was published here:

    quite some time ago.

Better than that, you can burn mini-dvd's on to a CD. There are several programs that will burn the ISO DVD directory structure on to a regular CD. This comes in handy for say, when I took my roomate's NIN DVD in DTS, and extracted the DTS track, and burned that onto a dvd-cd. The DTS track is a perfect 550mb. How cool is that. Also good for burning DD5.1/THX trailers onto a CD to take to the home theater shops to test out their systems. You can get full blown .vob's here:

KPIG has great music of the country/folk variety with a 90's twist. And in place of real comercials they had hilarious parodies and songs. It was stuff I could listen to, my dad could listen to, and my grandfather could listen to. Pretty impressive. Songs with lyrics like "I thought she's gonna steal my heart, she only stole my double-wide" and "When....exactly....did we...become white trash?"

After 10pm they had the "dirty boogie"; songs you wouldn't want any young virgin ears to hear but they were pretty damn funny/explicit (www.dirtyboogie.com). I belive the station is 107 oink 5, as the DJ's called it.
