My boss (CIO) promotes me from his favorite developer to management, of which, admittedly I know nothing. After a few months he calls me into his office, wants to discuss my management style. He feels I'm not being assertive enough. Throws a knife down on the desk says, "Now, I want you to stab me." I say what. He says, "Stab me, go on, fucking stab me." I tell him I'm not stabbing me. He comes around the desk and tells me if I don't stab him, he's going to stab me. Then he gets up in my face and starts screaming for him to stab him. Finally, I snap and pick up the knife and try and stab him. He breaks my arm in two places and breaks two of my ribs. Then he claims in court that I attacked him with a knife. Well, I can tell you, I won't work in management ever again.

Indie artists with a limited number of recordings may indeed benefit from exposure through new streaming services, but the amount of money they stand to make is much less. David Byrne made an interesting point in a Rolling Stone article: "Perhaps we might stop for a moment and consider the effect these services and this technology will have, before 'selling off' all our cultural assets the way the big record companies did," he writes. "Musicians might, for now, challenge the major labels and get a fairer deal than 15 percent of a pittance, but it seems to me that the whole model is unsustainable as a means of supporting creative work of any kind. Not just music." He finishes with a bleak warning. "What's at stake is not so much the survival of artists like me, but that of emerging artists and those who have only a few records under their belts," Byrne writes. "Without new artists coming up, our future as a musical culture looks grim."

All of the people commenting that these 2 operating systems use 2 different types of devices are, of course, correct. The link at the bottom of the article about who is actually making money on mobile operating systems seems particularly relevant also. However, hasn't the idea been endlessly rehashed that the people are changing in the way they use devices and services? What if there are dramatic changes in technology that make mobile devices even more attractive for productivity? Also, are entrepreneurs (who live in manure) interested in starting companies and targeting markets more interested in a blue line that is trending downwards, or a green one trending upwards?
So much of the Linux laptop market seems to be targeted at the low end (current story), or the high end (Dell XPS Ubuntu developer edition). Only System 76 seems to offer anything middle of the road (core i3 for $700). Not really confident linux can get a foothold in a market with a Windows 10 laptop at every price point from top to bottom.
Want to use a free and open browser, but don't want to be subjected to security vulnerabilities like openSSL (Firefox). Want to use a fast browser with good js performance, but don't want to be spied on (Chrome). Want to use a browser adding innovative features and supporting open web standards, but don't want to use proprietary software owned by the Chinese (Opera). Want a web browser, but not one from a company with a history of trying to break and subvert open standards (IE). Advice?

In a world where we carry pocket computers that track our location 24/7, and the police have personal databases of our genetic information, what opportunity will there be to simply be a face in the crowd. Technology continues to provide more and more of the tools that can make a perfect police state.

Company has implemented previous strategy to dominate market, but will now try competition's strategy to dominate market. Company has more money than God to compete with competition who has more money than God. Fans of company wonder if company will include support for ________ technology, and also what the buttons will be shaped like. Product will exist in marketplace of products very similar to product to be released.

Hidden away within the rocks of this vast network are a people known as the Free Software Foundation, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah, who would lead them to true freedom.
