We've got an HP 4MV at work, and I swear, after tens of thousands of (11"x17") prints over 9 years, we *still* can't kill the damn thing. The worst that's happened is it was down 3 days 5 years ago for a drum replacement. To contrast, my company also has a Lanier 36P that has dies basically every 30 days like clockwork. We've given up on using it for production anything & are sticking with HP from now on.

But not on the basis that 1/2 the printers they make are awful? Worst. Inkjet. Ever. Yes, yes, I know we're talking about lasers printers here, but their inkjets are total crap.

2.) It doesn't run on Windows, which face it, is still what most of the world runs for an OS.

No stupid "port it yourself" comments. I don't ask you people to design your own communicaions fiber rings, so you shouldn't expect me to program my own software.

The Larsen A ice shelf suddenly collapsed in 1995. The Wilkins Ice Shelf is shrinking. In 2002, the 3400-square kilometer Larsen B shelf -- at least 12,000 years old and up to 70 stories thick -- disintegrated into the Weddell Sea in the space of a few months (satellites images of the collapse are available at http://nsidc.org/iceshelves/larsenb2002/animation. html).

The calving of monster icebergs is now common. Ted Scambos, an expert from the University of Colorado's National Snow and Ice Centre, found that after Larsen B's collapse, nearby glaciers began entering the sea up to eight times faster than previously.
