Does the Phone company, postal service, or package delivery company allow you to: publically post data, orginize groups, or store information for you?
Don't pretend that people are stupid, or that these issues are cut and dried. I respect Google and don't consider them to be liable, however this is not the same as what you describe.
People are always asking themselves "what if." The US military has plans for full scale thermo-nuclear war with canada. I have plans to teleport into strange women's bedrooms. Scientists especially tend to plan things out, even if they aren't likely.
I've tried using a mac probably in the same way you've tried using a PC: I picked up the mouse, used it for an hour, and wondered why I was wasting my time. Or, I used it to surf the web, and nothing else. Or I tried to use my favorite piece of cross platform software.
The point of the matter is that you havn't really tried Windows until you're reasonably comfortable with it. Same for using Linux or a Mac.
Whenever we do somthing we're not used to we are going to be frustrated by our own akwardness.
Because a phone conversation leaves no written proof. Monitoring a phone call creates that proof.
If someone gives out a company secret via the phone, it's possible to deny it and for damage controll. There is no real proof. Not so with email. Especially when it's easy to broadcast damaging information to a large number of people.
As a rule, never say somthing in email that could get you in trouble. You might as well be printing and signing it.
Having his street address serves a purpose. You now know that there is a possible threat to your children, loved ones, etc.
Having only his phone number would be useless. He could live anywhere in your town, as could a number of non registered sex offenders.
You weren't modded down for posting "private information." You were modded down because the way you provided the information implied that people should harass the site operator.
"Hey everyone! Mr. Smith at (555)555-6547 is a complete ass."
"Hey everyone! Jon Doe at (555)555-4578 Lane is a registered sex offender."
Are you going to call up Mr. Smith and ask him for a cup of sugar? Do you plan on asking Jon Doe to baby sit? Do you expect to have any kind of meaningful dialog with these people?
"Is it true you're a sex offender?" "Yes."
There is no use for that information other than to bug those people.

"Kameo and Ninety-Nine Nights are not sequels."
Shit. I guess it was me.
Is it me, or are all of those sequels?
I'm genuinely curious when you think it would be appropreate not to wear your safety belt.
No, he's right. Most Techno and Rap DJs use LPs.
Primary reasons: It's much easier to beat match 2 LPs together. Adjust the speed slightly, and mix. It's also far easier to scratch with LPs.
Rock DJs, etc tend to use CDs, because they have no desire to do either. In that case, CDs are more durable and much simpler.
I guess that makes stealing from the stores OK then?
I always wanted to live in a world where everyone screws everyone else just to stay even.
Apple has released a multi-button mouse?
Oh shit! THE DESTROYER IS MANIFEST!
Geeze, talk about jumping to conclusions. It looks like someone fucked up their customizable toolbars to me.
I don't blame Bush for anything. The man is simply doing what 51% of the tabulated voters are asking him to do.

Because I can already get into the bedrooms of girls I know.
So, what you're saying is that stealing value from someone else's brand name is somehow morally equivelent to having your house forceably transfered?
When the individual isn't willing to accept a fair price for domain ownership the courts must become involved.
This project seems like a convient reason to put nuclear weapons in space.
Why wouldn't they have plans?

We're all waiting on impetus and technology.
Just because something is free doesn't mean that it's valueless.

Grandparent was litterally asking for it.

Simple hack:
Type "\\127.0.0.1\C$" into a windows 2000 computer.
Select all files.
Delete.
There you go: instant progress bar.

I see it being a step beoyond that:
Imagine your friends bringing over their own Nintendo and a small TV.
Set it down, plug it in and *bam*: 8 player gaming.
I'm willing to bed that the wireless features are based on an ad-hock topology. Networking so trivially easy that any moron can and will do it.
What about selling a 2nd revolution to a family with some free cash? "Don't like split screen gaming? Well here you go!"
Perhaps it will support wireless controllers out of the box? Wouldn't that be nifty?
There are a lot of great ways to use this features and Nintendo seems like a company willing and capable of doing it.
What are you talking about?
Geeks are some of the most materialistic people I know.
