And then there's one of my all time favourite dialogues, though not heavy on compound words: "Älä räkkää kääkkää" "En mä rääkkää kääkkääkään"
Roughly translates to: "Don't pester the old man." "I'm not even pestering the old man."
And the longest vocal structure in Finnish language: hääyöaie - "(something you are going) to do during your wedding night" (and that was not an euphemism, it's the actual meaning of the word)
I was referring to the two main characters Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo of the XIII legion. Two centurions with the same name are mentioned in Julius Caesar's De Bello Gallico, but the characters in the show are fictional. Augustus, though probably the gratest Roman emperor, is not, in my opionion a main character in the show. Though, if there is a second season, he probably will be.
Absolutely loved the Rome miniseries (HBO/BBC2). A bit too heavy on sex, but it kind of fits the theme. They did not have the budget to do large scale historical battles (even in CGI), but the show still beats approximately 95% of the shows out there. It's all about epic scale intrique and backstabbing in late days of the Roman rebublic era. So what that everyone knows what happens to Julius Caesar, the main characters are rather insignificant non-historical characters that just happen to be in the all right places when something important happens.
Here's my top list for 2005: 1. Rome 2. Lost 3. Battlestar Galactica 4. My name is Earl
I must admit I haven't seen most of the shows on the list. But, an American adaptation of The Office? OMG.
So in other words you think the person that sets the problem and/or funds the project deserves the credit while the guy that actually solves it deserves to be a footnote in history.
Sigh. Mm, no. You are beating a straw man. I just pointed out that the guy who thought about the problem first deserves some credit too. He did not fund the project. He managed to get the funding through a lot of _hard work_. BTW, it seems that both of them are happy with the situation - being multi-millionaires in a couple of months. It's not like this "nut job" stole the formula or the credit.
And while bashing Bill is an international sport, he too deserves some credit for setting up M$. (A disclaimer, just in case I didn't underline this enoug: I am NOT saying he deserves all the credit.
I'm a humanities geek - I do translations Finnish-English-Finnish. For example, I've translated for a journal of military medicine and done brochures for the chemical industry.
That's just crap. Very few of the groups I read are full of spam (the few that are are gatewayed mailing lists). And the technical ones are full of knowledgeable people: ask an F95 question on comp.lang.fortran if you don't believe me. They were really bad in the mid-90s, but now they're much, much better.
I agree. There are a lot more wackos on the lose, but most of them are happily trolling on millions of web-forums, chats, and whatnot. The average net user is less likely to find the Usenet nowadays and in most cases this is a very good thing.
Usenet will not die away (just look at the statistics). There is spam, but it's a very small annoyance compared to e-mail spam.
...but China is fast becoming the next Asian economic powerhouse. Many people living in Hong Kong now go shopping for consumer electronics, mobile phones, computers etc. in mainland China. New cities are already larger and produce more goods than HK.

I'll trade that for models with anything transparent...

Might as well call it Cola Plaque if it has sugar.

Well, that "nut job" got the funding for the project. Remember the half a mil?
Of course, Mr. Sabnis was the person who actually made the stuff, but he probably would not have even dreamt of coloured bubbles.
Blocking VoIP is hopeless...
Of course, the people at Verso do not care about this. As long as there is a sucker willing to pay for them for trying.
But did they have hair on their feet? Or perhaps scales or feathers?0 7/1548224&tid=14

Yep, it's hard to know nowadays... but it was a joke and I'm glad someone got it. Most jokes don't benefit from being explained, so I won't do that.
I for one will be sending a bag of Pretzels to congratulate him.
