If this new unit will be "all-in-one" then why would i need to back up my digital camera? Won't this new unit replace my camera if it truly is an "all-in-one" unit?
What is a Clio? Do you mean Clie? If so then what Clie are you using that you can not replace the battery? You should mention the model instead of making it out that all Clies are like this. I wonder what else in your post is misleading or just plain wrong.
I found MusicMatch to be too bloated and to have a poorly designed interface. Apple releasing iTunes for Windows was a blessing. iTunes is just so much cleaner and easier to use.
Why? Because they can get more money from a company than they can get from a disfunctional family. So they are clearly going after compensation instead of justice. This makes me have zero sympathy for the victims. The media should be asking: Where did the kids get the rifle and ammo? Who bought them or sold them the game?
Lets see if I got this right. Slashdot wants people to design t-shirts for them that they will sell and make money with. In exchange Slashdot will give the winner 3 t-shirts and $75 to spend at the over-priced ThinkGeek store. All I can say is may the biggest sucker win!
If the UK Civil Aviation Authority says so then it must be true. It is not like they have anything to gain by helping the airline industry sell more inflight services. Or do they?:-)
You make it sound like being on crack is a good thing. I had a friend on crack once. I could not trust him nor rely on him. He was unpleasant to look at and to be around. He also died soon after getting on crack. I think I'll avoid Trepia's IM.
There are too many complaints about his answers. Let us remember that although Slashdot calls these interviews they are not. These are questionaires. An interview, at least in front of a camera, can capture much more than answers. Interviews puts them on the spot. Can capture emotions to help determine if their answers are true.
It would be nice if these statistics were in units sold instead of dollars. New PC games tend to be less than new console games. Also, does this include used games being sold in retail stores? Movies are also measured in dollars made instead of tickets sold. As ticket prices go up it is easier for future movies to make more than past movies. If they gave us statistics in ticket numbers then we would have a clear comparison.
It sounds ligical at first but what about other areas of society. For example: Why do some of the taxes I pay go towards improving schools when I don't have any kids? Why do people with kids get deductions when their kids are using the schools? Should we tax people who use the police or fire departments more when they make use of those services. And then will that money really be put towards the resource it was collected for. Think of the cigarette tax. Its suppose to go towards covering the cost of health and education about the dangers of smoking, but not all of the money is put towards it. Same with the money states got from the tabacco settlements.
I don't think the price should be paid by the person buying the computer. I think it should be paid by the person throwing it away. Why should I have to pay a recycling fee for every computer I buy? My DHCP server is a 486 that I bought 9 years ago and have no plans to retire it soon. Does anyone have any stats on how long it takes the average computer to go from store to recycling? I bet its a good number of years. I agree that the cost needs to be covered but I feel it is being paid at the wrong end. Will we soon have to pay a recycle fee for vehicles? Or how about a recycle fee for groceries since they are packaged in glass, cardboard, and tin. I will admit that making the preson throwing it away pay may cause them to try dumping it at a Salvation Army box or breaking it into smaller peices and throwing it out with their household trash.
Thats why the author writes articles for CNET. If many (not all) journalists knew what they were talking about then they would have real jobs in the field they attempt to write about.:-)

Grow some balls!
These Ask Trashdot questions are getting scary. How do these people make it through a day with zero common sense?

With discussions like this it is very clear why more sysadmins read Slashdot than SAGEwire. At least Slashdot has some "stuff the matters".
Hey TacoBell, try reading your website before posting.
Should it be Pink Daisy for writing a worthless article or Timothy for posting it? Another article of Trashdot quality.
How is the battery life on your precious Zaurus?
Lindows comparison chart actually compares to the new 12" PowerBook not an iBook.
OK, so he was not arrested for virtual theft. Who came up with the headline for this story?

"it is well known among the computer elite, who are mostly Atheists and Pagans"
Do you have proof to back up this claim or is this your opinion or wish?

Big difference.
