This could be the best thing MS ever did for it's competitors. I believe that as time goes on and more info on Paladium becomes available more and more ppl and groups will oppose it. If the techies, privacy groups, and Nader types make enuff noise then the rest of the ppl will follow and oppose it as well and it will become history. This happened with the clipper chip, Pentium tracking ID, and it can happen with Paladium.
Just look at what the Intel's Pentium ID idea did for AMD! Sure the Athlon is a great chip, but I bet a rather significant number of Athlons were purchased because ppl still felt they could not trust Intel. Paladium could be the best things for the competition as ppl refuse to buy into it and turn towards Apple or Linux,.
Oh I forgot about those episodes until I read this, by crikey! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Why the fuck would a station rather schedule informercials instead of the World Cup final?? Because 99.9% of the ppl in America could care less about soccer.
The most watched event on TV in the world And your point is what?? For most nations that play soccer it is the only game in town, or rather, the country.

If you want a brand-name computer, you've got to buy it under the terms offered to you
Only in the computer industry is crap like this forced on you. Buy anything else from a car to a house to an aquarium to a mountain bike to clothing if you ask for modifications to the product they will do their best to accomodate. It's takes more time and more money to install software on a system than not, yet try buying a system w/o software. If you can it sure aint for less $$.
just a thought..when was the last time someone attacked Canada The reasone noone attacks Canada is because there is a much bigger target just to the south. (thank god!)
...no wait, when was the first time someone attacked Canada...???? Thinking like this is the exact reason why Canada has to double it's security efforts for large organizational gatherings. Much of the world, terrorists included, have a stereotypical view that Canada is nothing more than ice and snow with police that use dog sleds and and everyone drinks beer and plays hockey, and if they commit a crime they can get away from authorites simply by driving a car because cops in snowshoes can't keep up. Nothing can be further from the truth (for the summer anyways)
other than the religious aspect of it, why Canada of all places is afraid of terrorists? Who would be moronic enough to think attacking the Pope of all people would be a good idea?
Canada may not be #1 on the list of targets, but it is on the list. Terrorists have planned attacks on Jewish communities in Canada, but luckily they were discovered in time and stopped. And it is on the record that terrorists have plans to attack Canadian cities if their attacks on US targets fail, simply because of our proximity to the US. Simply put, the reason why Canada doesn't suffer from attacks is because there are much larger targets in the world.
Examples please?? I have never seen any other movie with anything close to resembling a light saber. I remember an "Electron Cutlass" from some an old TOS Star Trek comic, but it was esentially an electric metal sword, and that's about as close as I have seen anything to a lightsaber.
I agree that/. should have waited to post anything remotely associated with xfiles until later, but reading these posts knowing what will be in it and then complaining that ppl should have waited is like downloading the matrix 2 trailer then saying that it ruined the movie.
Who are the bigger dumbasses here-the ones who post spoilers or the ones who are waiting to watch the finale yet still insist on reading these posts expecting not to read anything about the show?
Kidding aside, I tried Money 2002 for about a month and immediately loved it-I used it and Quicken 2002 side by side and all the pretty eye candy almost convinced me to trash quicken and go with Money, but the more I used Money the more I realized that like most MS products on the surface it is prettier and appears more feature laden, the more you delve into it you realize it's the same old product done up in a fancier covering. I went back to quicken because it's faster and easier to use and has much more features, especially for investments (just try changing your investment type in Money). Money is prettier but Quicken is so much more.
Any Linux financial software needs to import files from Quicken accurately.
SW:AOTC is opening on a Thursday so it will be hard pressed to make beat spideys' three day total.
Besides, the last movie left a bad taste in people's mouths' and they wont be rushing to see it asap-they'll wait until the crowd's die down, or wait for a cheap tuesday nite, etc.
Anyways, good one! lol So that explains why the first showings of Spider-Man were all sold out days in advance-friends told other friends that it was "ah soo cool" ?????
You know, after a movie sets an attendance or revenue record there is always a small but very whiney group of sorry asses that uses the "over-hyped" or some other lame excuse to explain why the movies did so well, then after they see it keep it up with the like of "Worst movie I ever saw....Cabin Boy was better...more typical hollywood garbage." This happened with Titanic, happened with Fellowship of the Ring, and is happening with Spiderman already.
Spider-Man did not have any more hype than any other big movie. Now the Scorpion King, that was massively over hyped, yet it was hardly a blockbuster. What gives?
As far as non-fans seeing the movie, well DUH, good observation! Do you think only fans of Tolken saw Fellowship of the Ring?
Anyways, I saw the movie, and belive it or not, I am a fan and did not go because someone told me to. I expected it to be wildly sucessful, but not near as well as it has done. Way to go spidey!
That's sorta like asking "How much is a CD worth anyways?" after all your backups CD's get destroyed.
It's not the hardware that's important, it's the information contained in the system.
A very simple worth calculation: Since it will take five employees six months to type everything in, multiply their annual salary x 5 x.5. Assume they make $30000: $30000x5x.5=$75000
What is causing this is that now most companies outsource their tech support to other companies, and typically it's the company who has the lowest bid that gets the contract. The result is that wages suffer, equipment suffers, and training suffers.
In the two call centers where I worked the annual turnover rate was 60%. From the minute you sign in to the minute you leave every second is monitored. If you are allotted 30 minutes for lunch every day but your average last month was 31 minutes, your manager will tell you that you are taking too long for lunch. If you are expected to have an average talk time of 8 minutes per call but you average 8 minutes and 30 seconds, your manager will talk to you as well. You have 30 seconds betwen calls to wrap up your call. You are scheduled to take a break at 10am and 2PM for exactly 15 minutes. Every instance of your workday is monitered down to the second. You feel like a robot. Who would stick around there for more than a few months?
Call centers did not used to be that-my fist job was enjoyable for the first 6 months-but they have turned into call processing centers and the tech is just the answering machine robot. Nobody wants to work under those conditions so call centers now have turned into stepping stones to bigger and better jobs. The person you are talking to likely hasn't used the product you are phoning about until he started working, and that may just be a couple months ago. Any wonder why tech support is so crappy?
There is a big difference. You run Ad-Aware because you want to remove spyware and adware. Ad-Aware informs you of what it found and lets you choose what to remove and what to leave alone. Ad-aware is upfront about what it's purpose is and doesn't conceal what it is actually doing. Since you have to go out and find Ad-Aware, manually download it, manually install it, you are knowingly performing these steps to produce a certain result. Most spyware/adware is hidden and unless the user knows what they are looking for and how to prevent it being installed, it installs itself with or without your consent.
That my friend, are two completely different pieces of pie!
Why is this modded up as interesting? It should be modded down as stupid! Be contained licensed code from other sources-you can't simply decide one day to open source code that is not yours.
Well I dated a girl in the mid 90's for awile and it kinda freaked me out when it dawned on me that she was born AFTER the theatrical release of Star Wars-I was 9 when I saw it. Now I'm into older women.
No, the point is that you have your head so far up your ass you can lick your throat. This response is the perfect example of what is wrong with linux instructors-they always want to show off their linux knowledge for some ego-enhancing reasons and end up going overboard with the simplest questions and make the answers much to complex.
The guy wanted to know if he could use konquorer to browse the web....What is wrong with telling him 'yes you can use knoquorer to browse the web so go ahead' instead of giving him a freaking tutorial on linux browser applications.
That shitty "I'm a linux elitest because I've been using it longer than you" attitude has turned off so many people from linux including me. I did use linux exclusively for over a year but got so fed up from the childish self-centered "go fuck off and read the man pages" responses on discussion groups, message boards, and irc# channnels. I boot into it to install the latest kernel or see what the latest KDE has to offer, but that's about it. Maybe all these linux kiddies will grow up someday but until that time comes I'm happy with 2000 or XP.
Wasn't there an old Hanna Barbara cartoon called Top Dog? Or was it Top Cat? What was the name of that superhero dog that looked like Huckleberry Hound?
