because Google has a great track record, but I don't think Google is the right company to get all excited about when we find they're working on Linux. IBM, yes, as they have extensive knowledge and experience working with both hardware and OSes.
Google is good at... gathering and indexing information. I don't see a Google Ubuntu being much more than Ubuntu with bundled linux versions of their various apps.
Considering their censorship will likely be much less draconian than any implemented by Microsoft, they're doing the Chinese population a favor. If you consider that their other option is to not censor anything and have China block their entire domain, thus depriving the entire country of Google, they're at least giving them something.
Perhaps for treating specialized diseases, but like most drugs, if you force your brain to do things it normally shouldn't, like release more of a certain compound, you'll run into production and resistance issues, eventually requiring more and more for the same effect until bad things happen.
It doesn't matter what the fucking tech pundits or even tech companies say. As long as there is a demand for regular old DVDs (And there IS, and there will be for quite some time), somebody will step up to the plate and deliver.
Consumers will rebel hard against movie studios trying to force them into HD-DVD and Blu-ray, content to stick with their "good enough" and cheap current solution.
Fuck them. It's a pity Fox ends up with such draconian ownership of shows, or Groening could have brought new Futurama episodes to a better network. Now he's once again at the mercy of their idiotic policy on show cancellations.
the only thing dumber than this product will be the lawsuit spawning from some previously unknown IP company suing Imation over their wristband patent.

It's not like there aren't a million other C# books available. What makes this one special or "news for nerds?"
In less than the past month, we've had 7 stories dedicated to Opera, and plenty more semi-referencing it. Why so much focus on an alternative browser with even less market penetration than Firefox and a smaller chance of long-term survival?
In recent days, it seems like more and more stories about the RIAA royally fucking up are getting picked up by the major media outlets. All of this bad press will (hopefully) finally get the American populace aware of how bad these companies really are, and possibly mobilize the sloth-like public to actually do something about it.
Rejoice, slashdot nerds and trolls. The time of revenge may finally be at hand.

This is not actually irony at all.
I hear they're going to be bundled with Duke Nukem Forever.

What the fuck? He posted a great idea. Do the mods even try anymore, or do they just click random moderations for the first few posts they see?

I think you get it.
It's actually a quote from SNL, you straight-up clod.
money doing this? The answer is simple: volume.
We should at least make things interesting and try for a bet on the split of positive reactions to negative ones.
I pity whoever has to tally them, though.
Because this one is nothing but flamebait.
It's complete truth. It's not even a suitably obfuscated statistic like many religions will use when they say "FASTEST GROWING."
Fucking worthless story. Bravo.

I remain skeptical.
I can't imagine there's a large group of manufacturers for 30" LCDs, so what even differentiates this from Apple's monitor besides price? Backlight?

Not to sound cliche, but basically because everyone else is doing it. See the reply below yours.

Yeah, whatever. Mod me down.
Because I'm only interested if it was BALLS DEEP.
will be to compare the Microsoft released patch to the unofficial one.
It would be deliciously muddying for Microsoft if someone discovered significant parts of the unofficial patch in the official one.
Did Opera buy out Slashdot?

but I think the National Hurricane Center makes a much more relevent and useful link when it comes to HURRICANES.
