QNX 4 (the bootable floppy version) ran just fine on my old k6 200 + 32MB RAM. I guess it should work quite well on your computer, too. But I'm not so sure about Mozilla, sice it has pretty high system requirements to run normally. But I think the OS itself and the apps that come with it should rune just fine. After all, QNX is used in VCRs and similar devices which do not have an athlon/pIII inside them
Move to the north of Alaska and place your computer outside the window. Make a hole in the window, so you can change the CDs and operate power switches. And don't forget to screw it down securely, just in case a moose likes it...:) But you'll never have to worry about noise or the components overheating.
Condensation, you say? Hell, you were going to pump water into that case anyway...:)
Would that also mean no more HP notebooks? That would be a real shame! I own a HP Omnibook 6000 and it's one hell of a notebook. You want one. Trust me.:)
Write a plain good old text file, looking sth like this:
=TITLE: Title goes here
some text here
That would be very easy to convert to HTML using a simple script. Print that HTML file from a browser to a postscript file and you can use ghostview to convert it to PDF...
Well, DW generates pretty good HTML source. And it has a lot of great features, like templates, library items, updating... You don't get that if you write code in some text editor. And most important - it takes a lot less time and even with fast developement I have more work than I can handle for the next 2 months. WebDesign still is a goldmine:)
Something a bit similar happened to me a few months back. I discovered a big security hole in my webspace provider's server, which allowed me (or anyone else who knew about the hole) to read all of ohter user's e-mail and access all the pages, which included seeing passwords for MySQL database written inside.PHP files.
I notified the sysadmin about the hole and all I got back was "we are really busy and we don't have time for such details right now. we'll look into it at some point". Well, almost 8 months later the hole is still there. And the best of all - they are giving away free 1-month trials to anyone who wants one. You don't even have to provide your real name, because they never check it!!
Note: Before downloading (5.03 MB executable file), you will need to register using your Microsoft Passport. Passport is a suite of personal authentication services that makes it easier for you to use the Web.
Sice when do "easier to use" and "a pain in the ass" have the same meaning??
I'm glad that that pain in my wrist is not for real. I can feel it going away already... If it was not for this article, I would still think I am in pain.:)
As far as I know, Kylix is the best choice for you. If you want all of the simplicity of VB. It has a nice form desinger which makes it very easy to create a quality GUI, code completion/hints... It really is a lot like VB IDE. You also get the source to all of the libraries/components (at least they said so). Soon, there should be a free version of Kylix available so you can try it out and use it for non-commercial programs.
I have downloaded a free version of Komodo, but it still seems to be very buggy. It supports code completion for 3 languages and sintax coloring for a few more of them. But on win32 it was a pain to find, download and install correct versions of all language interpreters it needs to function correctly.
Yet during his tenure, Sega paid little attention to marketing. "The idea was, 'if the product is good, it will sell itself'," recalls one former manager.
As far as I remember Commodore had the same policy about marketing. And we all know what happend to them. Now, at the time when marketing is the most important thing, something like this was inevitable.
I have a duron 700 and it emits a lot more heat than k6-200 which I used to have before duron. A good cooling system does not yet mean that a cpu is not generating a lot of heat.
If it used AMD's duron instead of a Celeron it would be even cheaper or it could have more RAM for the same price. And you could also keep your hands warm with it in cold winter days, since durons produce quite a lot of heat.:)
How far away from the cell phone does the effect of microwave radiation reach? Could it be dangerous just like the second-hand smoke? Maybe one day we'll have public places divided not only in sections for smokers/non-smokers but also cell-phone-users/non-cell-phone-users:)
Makes me wonder how many back doors are there in other Borland's products, specially those intended for app development. Is it possible that a back door could be compiled into every Delphi/C++ builder/Jbuilder app ever written, or at least the apps compiled with Standard versions, which don't provide the source of the libs?
Has something like that ever happened before?
No matter how many features it has it still won't feed & walk your dog. And whoever owns a chair like this surely won't want to get off of it. Pets are doomed:(
My two patents:
Shared Line Automatic Service Handler (S.L.A.S.H. for short) which is used to screw everything up.:)
Dynamic Option Technology (D.O.T. for short) which is used to really confuse surfers by changing their/. options al the time.
Radial or linear star pattern: a pattern where stars are ordered in form of a circle or in form of one or more paralel lines.
At this point my lawyers are already prepairing a lawsuit against EU and USA for using my patent on their flags without my permission.

Maybe Microsoft could host kernel.org.
Then again, maybe not...

Forget the furniture, I want to buy the whole place! :)
Linux on my desktop, qnx on my iPaq, Microsoft in my long forgotten history. The world is perfect! :)

Does anyone have Macromedia Dreamweaver 3 or 4 working with WINE? That app is the only reason I'm still using Windows!

Some really never learn...
Maybe now that there is an OS for atheists, someone will really make Jesux (Jesus linux).
... and Alahux... and Satanux... and... you get the point...

This time it's not the user who chooses how to view the page. It is microsoft.

Now, when can we rip it apart and make something useful out of the components? Would it be worth buying it just because of the PC hardware inside?

Wil this in any affect Kylix (delphi for linux) which is based on the QT lib?
