  1. DVD life on The State of Recordable DVD's · · Score: 5, Insightful

DVD-R media costs less than DVD-RW, has an archival life of up to 100 years

But how will you read the data from it in 100 years? We don't even know if we will be able to purchase compatible readers in 2-3 years.

  4. yuck on Macromedia Pushes Flash For All Things Web · · Score: 2

For example, it's intended to eliminate page refreshes. Users will be able to continue to browse a site even while the Web page processes credit card information and other data

Which means you'll have to wait longer for the page to load in the first place - even if you won't submit a form, beause the info you'll be viewing while you credit card info is being processed must be preloaded. I know - some of you have DSL and don't care about that, but I'm on a 56k dial-up. And by me experience, noone can remember the word "optimisation" when it comes to flash.

  5. my opinion on What Makes a Good Web Design? · · Score: 2

Never (and I do mean never) steal graphics from another site. I used to work with a "designer" that did this kind of things and it caused us some problems. It's OK if you see a good design and create something similar. but as soon you are using someone elses pixels you don't deserve to be called a web designer.

If you use flash don't use it to display important data. Flash should be used in such way, that you can't really tell if it's flash. Use it for eye candy - but not too much.

  6. Adobe vs. Corel on Photoshop for OS X · · Score: 2

Why is it such a big news that Adobe finally decided to write a native version of Photoshop for OSX, but noone ever mentioned that Corel's Draw and PhotoPaint have been available for OSX quite some time now. Doesn't anyone use them any more or is everyone preocupied with Gimp vs. Photoshop flamewar?

  8. Moz mail on Mozilla Development Roadmap Updated · · Score: 3, Informative

One thing i really hate about mozila mail on windows: not being able to choose more than one file for attachment at the same time. If you want to attach multiple files to an e-mail you have to click on "attach" for every one of them. And this was the same in Netscape 4.x
