  1. Younger Deschain in the second series? on King's Dark Tower Series To Be Adapted For Film, TV · · Score: 1

So, if Im reading this right, there's a move, followed by a TV series, followed by a second movie and then a second TV series, which is about the younger Deschain, then a final movie.. So, that means the second TV series is Wizard & Glass (the middle book) . So, the three books before that are covered by a movie, a TV series and another movie, but the final three books (and IIRC probably the biggest of the series) are all covered by only one movie.. Seems like they've got some balancing issues here. Surely it would be better to make W&G the middle movie and have a movie and TV series either side to cover the other books?

If you had created a table (or other physical item) instead of software, then you would only own it up until the point where you sold it, then it becomes the property of whoever bought it from you. I think the same should apply to software, if somebody buys a copy of your software, then they should own it to and be able to do what they like with it. The only real difference I can see with software is that you have sold only a copy of what you have created and can then go on to sell as many as you want without running out of your supply.. If a table maker wants to make a living he has to keep making more tables, surely if you want to make a living, you should keep writing more software?

It had nothing to do with DRM. Blizzards network broke under the strain. That's why smart people wait a few days before buying a game that popular.

Actually, smart people don't buy products that require the publishers network to be up in order to play a singleplayer game. Having to wait a few days because of network load is a bit of a slap in the face when we're all subjected to the constant pre-order culture where playing on release day is the most important thing.. Paying for that just sends a message that its okay for publishers to pull that shit. Although, I guess if nobody bought it, they'd just blame piracy anyway...

Even if it takes 20 or 30 years to get there, the data it sent back would surely be invaluable and would take a lot less time than waiting for some kind of wormhole technology to be invented. Does anyone know if this is possible with our current tech or in the near future?

think that MS will have a hard time maintaining market share in the next 30 years on the desktop market. Software is just becoming too much of a commodity. Easily replaced by free alternatives. Obviously the change isn't going to happen overnight, but over the long term, there's no way that MS can keep on charging for upgrades to software when software with the same features can be had for free.

They dont need to compete, they just need to change the document format every so often.. I use OOo at home for the few general office tasks I need, but if I have to send anything out to a third party (submitting a CV/Resume, for example), it has to be in good old fashioned .doc format.. I've yet to meet any business that accepts documents in .ODF format and until that changes Microsoft will always be in front.
