    Get caught drunk driving, and it should be "no driving". Period. No excuses, no 'to and from work'. Figure out a different way to get there. If you can't, well...you shouldn't have driven drunk.
    You realize this a direct analogy to you get caught hacking, no more internet?

    umm, did you forget the $1000 laptop to connect the USB to? that usb adapter by itself is very useful i hear!!

    half the /. posts so far are people bad mouthing these things, claiming their bsd/linux laptop does so much more! well of course it does, it is a frickin' laptop! these are nice little devices to have when you don't want or need a laptop with, but still would like to know there is a network there for 'future use'...

    india is planning on PUTTING someone in space. Canada hasn't done this and isn't planning on it. Canada has contributed parts and we (US) send up an occassional Canadian astronaut, but outside of that India is making strides where Canada isn't.

    Further, some programs are wrapped in copy-protection that is so heinous it keeps particular hardware from using the game in the first place (BF:1942).

    BF1942 was so bad that about 9/10 times it refused to see my perfectly good OEM disk in the drive. i would have to try restarting the game, many, many times, and sometimes restart the computer also. Sometimes I just gave up. Once I got the no-cd crack, I was finally able to play the game I had purchsed the day it was released. (not cheap either!)

    It's common, for instance, to be utterly ignored in some commission-based sales environments if you look too young, or too poor.

    umm, that is EXACTLY what i'm hoping for! I know more then 99% of the drones at best buy when I am shopping for a particular item. (if the geek in me doesn't already know more, I've done plenty of homework before going into the store to buy anyway...)

    I've heard the best buy drones sell WAY too many computers that will 'speed up the internet', never mind the fact the user plans on having only dialup, that 3.0 ghz p4 is certainly going to cook through that 56k dialup!

    the sole purpose of the kyoto treaty is to cripple the US economy. it does NOT put restrictions on developing nations, they are able to pollute as much as before, but the US must drastically cut out. so of course everyone but the US is going to agree to it!

    cover it up... as of yet the plain site doctrine still holds true. police have to ask for your permission to search without a very good cause, which has been generally held fairly high. people are 99% of the time intimidated to say no when the officer asks to search, so it works out for the police anyway.

    anyway, with you saying 'no', anything in plain site is fair game though...

    umm, yeah.. i hate when someone from the south posts comments like this. VERY few foreign cars earlier then 1990 or so are in existance in any place that has real seasons. they had very little in the way of rust protection, and often those cars simply rusted the body entirely away until it was undrivable. (I live in a place that uses LOTS of road salt, it is havoc on many vehicles!)

    UTD didn't own the apartments in question, even if they did they aren't allowed to prohibit their tenants from establishing legal wireless links. FCC regs allow tenants the ability to place dishes as necessary, antennas as necessary (so long as they're legal), and amateur radio equipment as necessary. Landlords cannot interfere with the above legal placements. End of story.

    Not quite true... this ruling has no affect on apartment dwellers, it only pertains to condo & managed living areas. (like covenants in gated communities) the ruling says in those situations you can not be prevented from putting up a small sat tv dish. (and ONLY a dish, other antennas are not included)

    so yes, if you landlord says no antenna, they are fully within their rights.
