At some point there is going to be a major societal shift IMO:
Either the people with nothing change the nature of our capitalist society, or the people with essentially everything take the LAST logical step and build Terminators to "fix" the welfare problem. This could be hyperbole, but from a logical perspective if you are replacing everyone with robots why wouldn't you replace the police/military so you don't have to worry about strikes etc?
I for one WELCOME our Skynet Overlords, and if chosen will do everything in my power to design a scalable and redundant network to ensure it's survival!!!
Wouldn't it be ALOT cheaper to get a crapload of weather balloons and put some wireless gear on them, then tether them? Alternately what about some GPS enable RC airplanes with wireless gear????
no you misunderstood. I mean anything the CITY does is public record and hence should be subject to scrutiny and criticism, especially by its employees. If the workplace sucks, then the citizens have a right to know that their city treats it's people like crap. If the city is doing something questionable by all means the employees should be able to post negative comments about it.
We have an expectation that government is public and as such it should be held to a higher public standard.

Even Better, we can now rename the "Military Industrial Complex" as the "Carbon Sequestering De-Industrial Complex" or the "Green Clean Machine". Next time you hear about how much money is being spent on the MIC, tell your congressman to double it! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!
I would not be surprised to see a kludge put in for IPv4. Something along the lines of using unused bits within the ip header to create multiple ipv4 spaces....

War is about a political issue solved through the use of force. A limitation on wars is the perceived politcial costs among your own population. (I.E. dead soldiers mean problems at home with political support)
If you remove the human costs you also remove the politcial costs. So in essence a roboticized military will probably encourage wars....
