Linux uses ALL available memory for caching. The difference is that it releases caches for general use as needed, so you don't notice the fact. I know Windows preloads a lot of DLLs, but I'd imagine it only hangs onto the most recently used ones when memory dips below a safe level.
Legendary for squeezing the most out of a tight budget (El Mariachi probably cost less than the Columbia Lady intro animation;). Independent for doing the editing by himself.
I noticed they actually had an entry for homo sapiens, which is better than many books of that sort remember. That puts it one step ahead of print already:)
Zip compresses each file in an archive individually.
Tar+gzip compresses the entire contents as a whole - meaning better compression than zip archives (unless you add uncompressed files to an archive, THEN compress the entire archive..)
WinZip supports tar+gzip archives, from what I remember, but WinRAR supports.gz, tar.gz,.bz2 and.tar.bz2 files, so why use anything else on Windows?
Then again, you could use solid RAR archives. Generally the best size+performance ratio I've tried of these (all compressed as a whole, some error recovery).
My Azureus usually eats up 15-20% of my CPU time and 50-100MB of RAM. That's with just one or two files shared - it doesn't seem to release the memory after removing torrents, either. Still, it's the best interface:/
Looks fishy to me, too, even being the Linux nut that I am. But..are the bugs in Windows mostly kernel-related or other software? If it's kernel-related, counting the rest pulls the average down, making Windows look better:)
All Deluxe cards have dual, yes, and the second NIC is a wonky 3Com variant that still is problematic. The nvnet driver is still in NVidia's latest downloadable nForce kernel drivers, too.
I'm not so sure the nForce chipset is superior, at least not the nvnet bit. I've tried both the NVidia driver and the reverse-engineered forcedeth driver, but neither lets me use the network at all.
From what I can tell, I am not alone, either. Google has many stories involving non-functional nForce 2/3 integrated NICs.
Yes, there are other countries.

So not quite like VMWare after all, but more like Win4Lin,
and its precursor for SCO operating systems (Merge)?

I've known two people named Gandalf. One wasn't even a Tolkien fan,
and his parents had just picked a name they overheard and liked.
But naming your kid Firiona Vie is beyond sad.
Adding to that: There are good times and there are bad times for
human sacrifice. Some people need to know.

I think the Eggs are causing it. For the sake of humanity, switch them all off NOW!
The only good thing to come out of Electronic Arts was their IFF EA 85 data format standard. It is more or less to binary what XML is to text.
Not just a couple - I had it *eight years* ago with Storebrand..
I'd sort differently. If it's not from a mailing-list I voluntarily joined,
