I always wonder what the energy consumption for water cooling is compared to air cooling.
Well, the only things that consume energy with water cooling is the pump (which, in the case of my Reserator 1+ from Zalman is a 5W aquarium pump) plus the fans (if any) you use to dissipate the heat from the radiator(s) - so it consumes probably less energy, but I guess the difference is negligible.
See, there's those things called "anime DVDs", but I guess you freeloading people who automatically equate "anime" with "bittorrent" probably never heard of those...
np: Underworld - Mmm Skyscraper I Love You (DubNoBassWithMyHeadMan)
(It's concept and usability also sucked galaxy clusters through nanotubes when I had to use it for doing exercises during my computer science studies, but that's a different story - although I can't believe that ACME would be much better...)
I don't buy DVDs that have no ads, period[.] [...] I am *INCREDIBLY* pissed about the Season 2 Dead Like Me box set having a two minute unskippable anti-piracy advert, *ON EVERY DISC*.
Now you've got me confused - are you pro or contra ads?
On one hand, you "won't buy DVDs that have no ads", but on the other, you're "*INCREDIBLY* pissed about [...] a two minute unskippable anti-piracy advert".
The close button disappears if you have too many tabs. For me, the close button disappears with nine or more tabs, but it's browser width dependant.
The Too Many Tabs! extension fixes that nicely by giving you several choices of what should happen in that case - I prefer a scrollbar to scroll through the tabs, but there's other options like a menu or multiline tabs too.
This gag has obviously been a _long_ time in the planning - an entire site redesign just to pull the ol' April Fool's Website Theme Change Switcheroo... nice!
Hey, Hellbound pulled that one already 2 days ago - but this being Slashdot, even the aprils fool joke being a dupe doesn't really come as a surprise... ^_^
Finally a board that can run a 2 card nVidia SLI configuration alongside a 2 card ATI crossfire config.
No more bickering which one runs this or that game better - just use the right tool for the job, no swapping of cards required.
Granted, you'd have to move to Antarctica to cool this sucker, but that should be no problem as long as the pizza delivery guy can get there, too. And just think of all the heating equipment you can replace with this rig...
Plenty of modern GPUs work just fine with rather small heatsinks. Practically no video card manufacturers use compound on their chips.
Well, what occupied the PCI slot below my Sapphire Radeon X1900 XT was practically a very big heatsink with a fan inside...
Oh, and there was no thermal compound between the heatsink and the fan - probably because sticking a thermal pad between these two is easier in the manufacturing process.
Thanks to the fan sounding like your neighbour's leaf blower I've replaced the heatsink/fan combo with a water block; I don't want to overclock it (might even underclock it a little), as that damn thing goes up to 92C with the stock heatsink/fan combo and still got to 84C with my reserator - while this probably are normal working temperatures for the GPU it heats the room a bit too much for my liking - clocking it down from 620MHz to 500MHz made it stay at 65C...
I guess "Ghettos" would be a better description for the areas those industry professionals that cooked up these specs must live in - as high as they must be on drugs...
Maybe it's just me, but aside from a speling(sic!) error here and there I hardly ever find bigger errors (not to mention the LOL, ROTFL, etc. "monstrosities" he mentions) in comic books, and there's a lot of interesting stories that are more than just the pulp he thinks they are out there - and of course there's also a lot of printed dreck novels out there - Rosamunde Pilcher, anyone?
Can we please call it the "1337 chat generation" already?
it SHOULD be possible to make your own automated install disc (fun job! what a PITA!) that will not only answer questions for you, but will have SP2 in it, avoiding the whole problem entirely.
Well, creating such a disc is a piece of cake with nLite...
Well, ATI Tray Tools allows you to set a hotkey for sending the monitor into standby, and if you don't have an ATI card there's always this and a shortcut...
Don't forget to mention that there's also DROD: Architect Edition, the precursor to JtRH - it's both open source, free and a full game (with editor) in it's own right...:)
Oh, and it's what made me buy JtRH and a CaravelNet subscription... ^_^

If you need an addicting game, try Deadly Rooms of Death, which is GPLed (with a polished version that's still open source and has a lot of extra features available for 20 USD) and quite mind-bending.

I can totally confirm that... ^_^

Is it just me, or does this look quite a bit like Nikolaus Wirth's Oberon system, which also mainly consisted of a mouse-driven text editor?
