I hate to say this but unless I spoke to him directly and Im just going on what he writes, I would say that *somethine* else (not medical, but inducinf medical symtpoms) is going on. Pat, what is really going on in your life?

I sit behind a firewall (linux)
and my xp box does not do any firewalling on itself.

I opened the ports (portforwared them to my XP box) and then I click on steam and there is a long wait and then I get a screen to create an account, but it says it failed since it is in offline mode.

Is there a way to make it online?

Anyway, I turn off all the active port forwarding (ie XP box can make make connection on any port since the firewall tracks the connectsion) and when I click on steam, it says Service temp unavaiale.

next problem, when I just have my normal router,
I hit steam it updates An locks at 27%, saying it cannot copy. Try as I might I can make the file change from Read-only

    WHAT IS GOING ON?
DID VALVE INSTALL THIS AS READONLY?

If you really wanted to keep bloggin, you would find anyway, even hand-texting the html. Ie they are not restricting your free speech right which I think a lot of people seem to be implying.

"As the trend is for Linux to take a more important role in organizations," Shemesh continues, "Aloni's development is extremely interesting. The question is how Microsoft will react and whether it will allow support for Windows systems if they have Linux systems installed on them."

This statement is really interesting as it suggests that linux will not takeover (if it will) one computer at a time (which it seems to be doing at the server level) but one app process at a time. Ie, that is to say, suppose one app has a certain level of importance, so people write to run in linux on windows, then slowly window apps get replaces such that windows merely servers base os, and then who knows, the people running the app decided to then get rid of the windows os, without having to do the whole thing all at once.

Of course as one previous poster said, the linux app is going to only be as stable as the windows os and who would no be surprised if there developed certain instablilties for this project.

When I first read this I was thinking, you want to make psychological torture a game? (then I remembered daikatana) but seriously, I was thinking that while Ender's game is probably one of the best science fiction books I am trying to think how one would make it a game that needs to be made

    1. The initall battle seens at battle school never really were about the battle but about Ender being tested to see just how much they could push him before he broke. ie Could they push him more than the enemy could and of course we find out (at least I think so) that "we" pushed him much harder than any space-faring alien race could, and it made much about our nature and what we will do achieve them

    2. I was thinking about the space seens but I tell you, they were always abstract in the book , and I think the closest thing I can think of, is HomeWorld2, again a game that's already been made and made well

anyway, would care to hear your thoughs
