I for one would love to see a big screen adaptation of Revolt in 2100 or Methuselah's Children. I think that Revolt would have special significance for all the Alex Jones followers!
Here is the thing with this story, I am in Orlando working to assist in the cleanup of the hurricane related damages after last years storms. I had no idea that they even provided this service? I have seen the network show up on my network browse but since I couldn't connect, disregarded it. I have never seen any advertising for the service from the City of Orlando. If you don't tell people about it why expect them to use it?
I am putting a home stereo system together for the living room and really like the looks of this device. Now can someone point me in the right direction where I can buy a similar featured device that runs Linux? Before anyone points out that I can build one with various howto's across the net, I don't have the time.
As a consumer, choice is good but functionality is better!
Steve: I don't know Bill, do you really think it is a good idea to post all of these fake messages about how much OS/2 crashes, after all IBM is a big company?
Bill: Sure, by the time we get done with them, they will never get behind a consumer operating system again! >
I have often wondered about the feasibility of setting up a national email and database to which everyone could forward their spam to. Then setting up a perl script which would strip the header information from the spam and post the information real time on a website. We could block the worst offending nets?
I have bought more versions of linux then I have ever bought Windows. The problem with the boxed sets of distros is that 8.0 is in the stores and 8.2 is available as a download iso. The distribution network is terrible.
Another argument to look at the article is the commercial software which is available. For example take Vmware, everytime you build the kernel vmware flips out.
The problem with linux as a commercial alternative to windows is that there is no default configuration. When was the last time anyone compiled the OSX or windows kernel?
I have never left linux alone after installing it, have you?
Tried RedHat 4.2 Learned FreeBSD 2.2.2 Picked up Turbolinux 3.0.1 and learned about all of those screwed up etc directories by watching the turbo config programs. TL was good back then. I have tried the distro every version since until 6 when you coulden't find the iso's anymore. Now if I want to run linux it is CRUX baby!
Some of the best programmers in the world read this site, isn't there a way to add a user interface to "altnet" so the owner of the hardware can use the new p2p network! Then when I download metallica using the new software, the DMCA will go after this clown!
I am a member of the Mandrake club. I did not join to take advantage of the Mandrakesoft, just to help pay for the bandwidth when I download four? ISO images. Other then Crux, my favorite distro, Mandrake is in my opinion the best distro for moving people off of Windows.
I appreciate Mandrakesoft's efforts in supporting KDE, a WM which I use on my Sparc and FreeBSD machines.
People need to understand that if they do not provide at least some financial support to open source companies then there will be less choices for the "free as in beer" crowd.
I for one have had to pay the monthly charges for a T1 and appreciate a 55k+ transfer.
So when FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASE comes out, the ports system will have three versions of KDE and when you build them you will have moc, moc2 moc3 in the bin directory?
My question is, why does every version of qt break compatibility with the previous version?
1.45, 2.30 and now 3?
Why not a emulation/compatibility layer that deals with the OSX cocca and carbon apps for linux?
This would give businessmen a real chance to ditch our windows apps. We could run office, adobe, etc.
You would see a real effort on the part of software developers to port their apps to the mac.
I once owned an ISP, but sold it, due to the costs involving the 56k upgrade. That was five years ago and now it seems that dial up is on it's way back. Does anyone know if there will be a speed increase due to new technology for dial up consumers?
Exactly,
There are thousands of people worldwide that would be willing to get a paycheck to do something they love. With FreeBSD you could hire some of the core group. jail is a prime example of this
Your right,
I have two NVidea TNT cards, nice linux driver, shame it doesn't work with my freebsd systems.
The people at Xfree86 seem to have stopped work on the nv driver because "This company has linux drivers" Providing a binary driver is not the same as embracing the open source movement
Don't you feel sorry for the OS/2 people?

Can I order this box and use it as a drop in replacement for my Dish Network PVR.
Can someone tell me if IBM has suffered in the form of sales of it's AIX product due to having the license terminated?

Who in f*ck modded this up?
Just kidding about the solaris, would have been great if it had brought up the old killbill X windows game though!
Damn, worked with Solaris and IE5. Also with XP and IE at 6.0.26
Do you think they are running OS X Server?

Fight the power!
Which version works better 97 or 2000?

What, It does not run W2K or NT
About the only place I see SGI anymore is at Kinkos.
I heard that Sun is going to eliminate Solaris and adapt FreeBSD as the default OS
FreeBSD does not run on the Power PC at the time of this posting.

Will there be a stand alone Amiga OS distro released for the x86 platform?
