IT doesn't need user passwords, just the ability to reset. Bob looses his password, you reset it to "BobRememberYourPasswordNextTime" and force them to change it on next login.
Too, IT shouldn't need special access passwords. Each IT person should have their own account with "IT Special Access". Then when that person leaves, that account is disabled/removed. Again, you don't need to change anything. Only a few, Manager/CTO and maybe VP, need root passwords. And when they leave, those passwords can be updated. Sudo and it's cross-platform equivalents will do.
Your proposed issues are only do to lazy IT departments and would fail any real security audit.
Actually, I think in this case the rational decision is to give them money because you don't know if anyone else will. If you actually enjoy Radiohead and want to support them, why would you rationally rely on "hope" as a means to their support rather than the logical, "I know Radiohead is getting support, because I supported them."
Now, if Radiohead announced, "Hey, we made 20 million off this idea! Thanks guys!" then I could see the Tragedy of the Commons becoming common.
Also as a reminder for those sitting on the fence, I believe this will be the last model with hardware support for PS/PS2 titles. The 80GB and on have software emulation.
"Years ago, I'd heard about a mythical unreleased videogame developed by Penn & Teller for the Sega CD and 3DO. The game was supposed to be an oddball adventure game, with some cruel magic tricks and minigames thrown in for good measure. This Absolute Entertainment press release from March 1995 sums it up nicely.
The most infamous part was "Desert Bus," a "VeriSimulator" in which you drive a bus across the straight Nevada desert for eight hours in real-time. Then you drive it home. Also, I'd read the bus veers to the right, so you can't just leave the joypad propped up. The rumor was that if you won the game, you got one point."
I bought a brand new 27" HDTV with component for 300 bucks... if you can throw down 200 bucks for a portable gaming system a tv with component you can grab a new TV. If you're all about hand me downs, maybe you shouldn't be picking up bleeding edge tech?
So... when I first signed up with Cingular, like 10 years ago, they were a pretty good company with flexible policies and good plans, I have the same plan as when I signed up in fact and you still can't beat it today. All in all, while they were cingular they didn't do anything too evil.
But within like 3 weeks of them becoming AT&T they've turned into AT&T. Bad service, bad policies, bad politics. It's like the AT&T trademark requires a company to be assholes and give out terrible service.
I don't get it. Cingular wasn't like this last year, or at least they were so blatant about it.
The issue may be that if they admit that rev 1 had a problem, then a large number of people with rev 1 may call MS and demand the fix, and/or a class action could get started claiming rev 1's were defective, etc etc.
From my limited experience with them... the sony phones are the only ones who's music player actually is intuitive and works like a music player, rather than just some app they stuck on a phone. On that particular issue, I'd say they are standing on pretty good ground.
So, so far there are a bunch of "haters" out there... so need some positive energy or something here.
Halo 3 is the best Halo MP I've played. Every issue that I had with 1 and 2 has pretty much been dealt with with 3. The maps are laid out really well. The new game types are actually interesting, if not revolutionary. (The new territories makes for such a better game) The weapon balance is fantastic. I never felt like anything was "broken". In any match up if I was killed, it was because they had a skill or strategic advantage, not because they were using the "newb combo" or something. The graphics may not be Teh BomB0rz but they didn't detract from the game nor are they ugly. But by far, the most impressive thing is they fixed the "people".
With the 360's rep system, the easy to mute in game and the ability to turn off having to listen to the other team, I never once was called a racial or homosexual slur. I was amazed. When people drop out of a game, they lose RP (XP points basically?) and you can tell the 360 never to play with those people again. Now, if they can just keep the cheating out, they will have fixed the biggest problem with Halo 2. The People.
And that could make Halo 3 a bigger success than any other online FPS I've played yet.
Oh, and as to, "What have they been doing for 3 years?" It was 3 maps on a limited multiplayer to test their servers. Not three years worth of work. Fool.
"Sony Invests in Square / Square Not Exclusive To Sony
Sony Corp it will invest 14.9 billion yen in capital to Square Co Ltd. The investment will give Sony an 18% stake in Square. Sony does not intend to prevent Square from contributing games to rival game makers such as Nintendo Co Ltd or Microsoft Corp, a SONY spokeswoman said. - Source Reuters.
"We are not exclusive to Sony, because of this deal." said Hisashi Suzuki, Square's president."
Sony owns a large part of Square. Sony needs to be doing -really- badly before Square starts helping out Sony's biggest game competitor.
This, while not a terrible idea, will only be a good one is it runs at a price that is super competitive. Like 100-150. Otherwise, they'll be trying to sell only to a segment that already can afford a notebook and probably already has one.
Actually outsourcing is economics at work. If an Indian can do the same job for cheaper, then they should be the one to be hired. Meanwhile, the Developed Country's worker(s) should be not resting on their laurels but working to improve their value so that they cannot be replaced easily by outsourcing. Protections can be put in place, but those are usually short sighted reactive methods and long term are detrimental to everyone overall.
One metric you could use is downtime/loss of work due to IT. This could be because you don't do backups right, to you don't have a test/production setup, to you upgraded to vista without training first, etc etc. Though you'd be reporting stuff you do badly, you can use this for a lot of justification.
"Email was down about 25 times for up to a day over the last year. This is because we don't have to budget to buy a redundant system. If you give us more money, we can increase uptime." etc etc.
I was all ready to mod you because I thought you meant -real- subtitles. Because my wishlist is getting the Japanese voice track for the games to be made available with subs. FFX Jap in Japanese is, for the most part, so much better than the US version. US Voice actors, for the most part, just aren't very good.
According to this: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0933606.html there are about a billion internet users worldwide. 2% would be 20 mil. MS claims to have shipped 20 million, or so, copies of vista. So that means that every copy they have shipped, even on new computers at stores, has been sold and brought up on the internet pretty much. This seems... fishy.
So, the system has been out for like 1.5 years... The "Early Adopter" phase has come and gone. I picked one up last April and I wasn't an early adopter -then-. People are just being whiny.

You know... I'd really wait on calling it the end of the trilogy before it comes out... with their track record and all.
Laws and "status" are only important if the current government wants to prosecute them.
Obviously, the current government does not. And sadly, I suspect, it will be some time before we get one that does.
Actually, if you've never seen it before, they'll just do what every other game that touches the net does:
ESRB Notice: Game Experience May Change During Online Play

Sonic Rush is still old school sonic, and its really good. Check it out if that's what you're looking for. I think a sequel is in the works too.

The version on DVD is the laserdisc version. So, if you want your LDs on DVD, pick them up.

No, they were working on the Mexican Squirrel market for a while there.
Because it was a British movie released in 2006 to film festivals and not a Hollywood style blockbuster?
They are both correct. An odd moment of clarity from DoE and Castro.
