    That's easy. The JVM does not abstract the differences in file I/O between Windows and Unix. It's quite easy to accidentally create a program that does not work properly on one or the other.

    Software patents, as practiced in the US, are a farce. It's practically impossible not to infringe them, unless your software does nothing non-trivial.

    Apple would in no way be a slave to a third party. If Adobe lags on implementing new features, it is the developers who are out of luck. They would always have the option to rewrite their app in Objective C -- exactly as they do today.

    There are several good reasons not to allow Flash, but this is not one of them.

    Like he said... you're opinion is different than most. I still don't understand why anyone here makes such a big deal about the fact that Apple creates products that aren't designed for them.

    You've basically said that you don't understand that people have different opinions than you. People aren't paying for less. They are paying for what they want. "Less" has nothing to do with anything. Less than what? Less than what you want? Less than what someone else provides?

    Why does it bother you so much? Do you really think that your creativity is going to be stifled or that you'll lose the ability to share information with your peers or the world? I just don't understand why it matters if the whole world starts using iPads. Even Apple understands that the iPad is not the end-all and be-all of content creation or consumption.

    The reason that some pages have to reload is because the iPad (like the -phone and -pod Touch) are memory limited and do not swap. Annoying it may be, but the alternative is to just crash.

    I assure you that most people are not as stupid as you (think they are). I bought my iPad because it's NOT a big laptop. Why the fuck would I want one of those?

    The iPad does about 90% of what I use a computer for outside of work. And I can bring it anywhere and use it fully in most places I go (i.e. AT&T has coverage). Why would I NOT want one?
