Every time I copy text in one app, paste in another, and see nothing
I've been cutting and pasting in X for 2 years now. And I can't recall a time when an app didn't let me. I suggest you read more documentation.
But Linux geeks complaining about anything GUI-related from Apple have no leg to stand on, and doing so sounds just plain silly.
Save your time and ignore these people. Despite all it faults, X is one of the most impressive systems I've ever used. I remember just recently running applications from other hosts that were running different operating systems on different hardware and in some cases, different campuses.
Maybe if the Linux world only had one mouse button to worry about, it could get it right.
I really wish CmdrTaco hadn't said this. You can use the keyboard and a one button mouse to do just about anything you can with a mult-buttoned mouse, in X and in MacOS.
Maybe OSX is scaring the shit out of Linux partisans because it's going to put the world's most advanced GUI on top of a rock-solid kernel, which the Linux world has never managed to even come close to? It comments that this that keep flames alive. I dont think any diehard users of Linux are worried about Mac OS X.
The mouse is fine, what I dont understand is why they are using the ATI Mobility and not a Geforce 2 Go. Here it shows the Mobilty consumes more power when in use than an ATI Mobility. And the Geforce2 chip leaves the Mobility in the dust when in comes to performance.

Movies cost 9.50 in Manhattan and already I use GNOME. Before I lay down a ten spot, I have to see images off something I dont stare at all day.
Or, I could just watch the DivX;)
Never underestimate a broke Linux user.
It's true you know. Anything done wrong by Microsoft is their fault. Even every tech company was outright rasist, (which in this case is irrelevant) and Microsoft were the only ones that had charges filed, though. That's the way the law works. You could argue that Microsoft cannot be held accountable for the actions of few managers. But there is no clause in the law that says "If you didn't know then forget it."
I don't like affirmative action. But I have to keep my mouth shut since I don't know a better way. If I come up with one, you'll hear from me.
Or if I don't come up with anything, I'll just say, "This sucks!", or something.
That's exactly the point. You should never assume something exsists or not without proof. That's exactly what my comment was trying to say. I cannot say weather these events took place or not.
Just like I cannot say "I know they did not take place." Also, I never said they did take place.
Hopefully, the original poster will think twice before saying something without proof one way or another.
"I don't see anyone complaining about the
rotten situations Mexicans must deal with when they're stereotyped to be low wage workers in
almost all instances, or Arabics to be stereotyped as 7-11 workers or taxi drivers. "
"That's quite an absurd
amount of money."
Thats how it works, you ask for alot then you settle for less. The workers are hoping the bad publicity will cost more than whatever they want to settle agree to settle for.
I dunno, I'm an EE and I'm in statics right now.
I dont see what could possibly be worth all this work.

Napster, Nazis and Rap...Oh my!
on
Nazis on Napster
·
· Score: 1
Napster can do, or attempt to do with their servers whatever they want. If you have a problem, you'll have to contact them.
Aside from that, some people are saying theres a double standard when it comes to banning certain types of music. There are resons why people dont ban rap music. First, and most importantly, is that it generates money. Second, gangsta rap music is not the cause of the violence that they are connected with. Of course the record companies tried to associate them with violence to sell copies. If you think that albums or music videos cause problems, I belive you are mistaken. The real cause is what it has been for a very long time, poor education and poverty. Just like the real case of racial violence are not musicians. Back to the napster case. It would be highly noble of them to stand up and say "no, we wont censor our users", but you have to try to look at it from their point of view. They asked themselves, "what is the best thing to do for US?"
Its not easy to do the right thing.
Ok, improbably way off topic on this one, but why dont people like RAMBUS? Is the technology flawed? Or was Intel's inplementation flawed? Had the technology been Free, would there such an issue?
Publishers have to make money just like everyone
else. They are a business. With everything being electronic, what other choice do they have? Haven't you ever protected an investment you made?
On the debian linux-sh devel list, someone posted that they had to comment out bogomips calculation in order to for the kernel to load properly. I know... its seems strange.
Name one Free Software developer on a major project that would use the stolen code. Tell me how Microsoft could prove that developers have been influenced by the stolen code. You cant just sneak code into gpl'd software.

You're right, we'll be using Office 97 forever...

Distribute a REAL(TM) Workstation
Provide a secure by default install
Polish up the Desktop
You've just described BeOS. And look where all that got them.

What does the XFree86 Project have to do with the Linux kernel?

Don't count out the Bitboys! They'll be making waves Real Soon Now(tm).
