I can have robust coding and debugging tools thanks to advanced IDEs like WebStorm7. I can leverage a common pool of engineers to do both front-end and back-end work - sure, the front-end types need to cross train with the back-ends and vice versa - but its MUCH more feasible when everyone is speaking a common language.

I'll be making my donation ... now that I've noticed you'd like donations. *ahem* I can understand why legal would feel the need to protect the users from more malicious addons that consume CPU/Memory/$$ because of obfuscation and the endless arms race that would unravel even the most secured subscription data model. I don't get the blanket restriction on reminding the users that donations power updates though. It'd be nice if there was an in-game browser addons could invoke for help, documentation and more formal support. That would be the ideal way to meet their goal of keeping all requests for donations out of the game itself. Given your extensive experience in managing and supporting a software product for tens of millions of users, isn't this the most excellent LUA portfolio project around? Like, cover letter worthy for any LUA focused jobs? Surely someone has use for Grand Master LUA skill. :) *poops on carbonite btw*

I've had similar issues in 10.4 and 10.5 and my investment has saved my butt 3 times now. As a side note, make sure your Macbook Pro is completely off when/if you put your Windows side into hibernate mode. I think I've moved my laptop too soon after putting it into hibernation and corrupted my directory. Nothing worse than watching the your boot loader not find any of the system files its looking for on startup.

  19. Re:it hasn't been restricted yet on Where Are All of the HDTV Tuners? · · Score: 0

You are completely off-base when it comes to antennas for Digital and HD content. Both Circuit City and Best Buy had at least 20 foot of shelf space set aside for 8 or 9 different models of antennas ALL capable of receiving HD. This was just after Christmas 2006. I paid $30 for a small omnidirectional Terk model and get 12 beautiful HD channels and countless digital sub-channels (I love RawNews from KNBC 4.2!).

Now, why on earth would I kick myself later for shelling out $30 ONCE for OTA HD?

I've seen the HD content available on cable and satelite. There are a few more channels (less than 10), but its not ready yet. By the end of the year, yes, then it will be worth it.

BTW, Direct TV doesn't seem to make the subchannels available. Is cable exposing them?

If the industry does nerf OTA (a bit of a paranoid thought IMHO), I'd still have saved a lot of money by not paying for content while I can.

Because time = money. If an hour of your time is worth X and it would take you Y hours to get to a point in a game where you feel your having fun, then the cost of playing to that point is Y * X. If I can get to that point by spending less than Y * X, I've SAVED the difference and got to the fun part faster. Its very logical and has worked quite well for me in the MMOs I play. Sure, I'm not popular with those that feel everyone should have to put up with the un-fun part. I'm not playing a game to be popular with people whos time is worth pennies though, I'm not playing a game to be popular with anyone. I'm playing a game to have fun.

I've found this logitech mouse to address both my FPS and MMO needs. The ability to change the DPI on the fly is AWESOME. I'm playing Counter-Strike and this round I want to be a sniper. Ok, I increase the DPI to its max and I'm able to twitch from one side of the screen to the other in a split second. I switch to my shotgun in the next round and lower the DPI and I've got the control to take the corners and jump right at the perfect time everytime. I'm playing Eve: Online and I'm out in a giant space battle zoomed way out to see the whole battlefield. I turn down the DPI and have perfect percision for clicking on the targeting icons and activating my weapons. We loose the battle and start running away, then I turn up the DPI and can twitch around space to find my next destination. I dock and start managing my account and I'm not frustrated by the super high resolution of my mouse making me click the wrong thing as it zooms around the screen. And don't get me started on the ability to change the weight of my mouse. This mouse is perfect for any need because it doesn't assume it can fill them all at any given moment. Yay for user choice!
