An important thing to remember here: you can't borrow money or apply for grants or scholarships to retire on. You can do all those things for college expenses. So if you can only save for one thing (kids' college or your retirement), you're almost always better off saving for your own retirement.
What's more, if you go to http://www.evanwashere.com/resume/stats.html (the Stats link), it's a 404 page that looks like a typical domain squatting page. Lots and lots of links, plus a search function. Something doesn't smell right here.
And how does a 19 year old design "the market data and trading technologies for places like CIBC Oppenheimer, Bankers Trust, and on the floor of the American Stock Exchange"???
Right, because we all know money, determines quality
Any amount of money earned on an endeavor makes you an expert in that business area compared to someone who's never earned a dime. If you've never launched a successful business doing X, you are in no position to criticize someone who is running a successful business doing X. They're making money, you're not, so you're in no position to judge.
How much did you make from your game subscription engine last year? How much did Valve? Why should we listen to you, exactly?
Just because one dork on Slashdot doesn't do something, doesn't mean the masses won't. Go take some marketing courses and learn something about how business works before making sweeping pronouncements no one will take seriously.
This wouldn't be a problem if the Federal government wasn't in such a hurry to shovel cash out the door everytime there's a natural disaster to some politician's poll numbers.
Bzzzt! Wrong! This is about scammers tricking Mr. and Mrs. Citizen to send them money "to help hurricane victims". It has nothing to do with money the Feds may, or may not, send out.
Tourists also provide a net boon to the economy, so any nation that actually did this would see its tourist related income plummet. Self-correcting problem.
A previous employer of mine has actually added astroturfers to their PR team that do nothing but spam forums with their excellent experience with the product they secretly happen to sell.
Oh, I doubt that would actually happen. Especially not from SanDisk, they have the best mp3 players in the world! I own three, you should go out and buy one, too! They're so cool!
I'm a Canadian...what the fuck is going on down there?
Maybe we should borrow Canadian border guards to man the US-Mexico border. You never hear about Americans sneaking over to Canada, they must be doing something right!
If it's not O.K. to do something to the people of one's country, it's inappropriate to do it to foreigners.
Forgive my naivete, but why? I mean, it's not like they're citizens, so they don't enjoy Constitutional protections. Legally, our government should be able to do whatever they want to them, as long as the people's home government doesn't raise a stink. And something tells me the Mexican Congress and President will go along with this for a one time price of $99.99.
As a Mexican person who prays for never needing to go to the USA (I just went once to Disney World and Universal Studios), I say, fuck the USA government.
How ironic, I'm an American who knows he'll never need to go to Mexico, and I'm always saying "fuck the Mexican government."
Building fences and putting up cameras is *not* a solution.
Maybe not, but an invasion is. Don't take this as a threat, take it as a friendly reminder of the history of our two countries. Unless you people get your shit together, expect to see Old Glory flying over Mexico City within the next ten years. It wouldn't be the first time we grabbed land from you people.
I don't think y'all understand just how pissed most Americans are at your country these days. The winds are blowing, and I don't think you'll like the direction they're headin'.
Says who? I suspect an honest poll of real-life ordinary Americans would reveal that they want affordable social security, the end of the war in Iraq, sensible energy policies and a range of other things first...
Send robots first.
I just know there's a Bender quote that fits this comment, I just know it.
You're kidding, right? The woman has no chin! She's just proof that just because a woman is a blonde, doesn't mean she's hot.
Well we'd best get crackin' then!
I belive that the starting salar is $24k with a masters.
Who would accept that salary? I can't imagine they actually get applicants for those positions.

We're also the ones answering requests for dates rather than asking, and some of us have a hard time finding a nice way to say no.
Really? Wanna go on a date?

I'll vote for him, but only because he's got the best campaign tag of 'em all.
Kinky Friedman: Why the hell not?
This is how legislators keep busy and stay out of trouble.
You misspelled make.

First off, it was Vincent Vega who shot Marvin, not Jules. But no, ya gotta blame the brutha. I see how you is.
Second, considering that Vega was a hitman, and Cheney is an avid gamer (what, you didn't know?) this isn't the best set of counter-examples.
Hmmmm...... Nice guess but no cigar, I'm pretty sure mother nature broke the mold that Dvorak was cast in.
Yes, probably out of guilt!
What sets us apart from the apes is our drive to seek knowledge purely for the sake of knowing it.
I think Dr. Cornelius would take exception to that remark!

The rights described by the constitution apply to everyone - not just citizens.
Maybe that's the real problem, maybe they shouldn't. The 14th Amendment guarantees equal protection to citizens, non-citizens shouldn't get squat.
Just like in Mexico.

Nice use of the word "honest" there. It guarantees that anytime you see a poll you don't like, you can just say it wasn't "honest" and dismiss it, rather than accept the fact that 86% of Americans believe immigration is a "very serious problem" or "somewhat serious problem". 86%. The country hasn't been the united on something since 9/11.
D'oh!
;)
Why, no I'm not perfect, why do you ask?
It's said that if something gets repeated enough times, people will believe it. (As long as that phrase has been bouncing around, it must be true.)
Don't you mean, "As often as that phrase has been repeated, it must be true"?
