And what's the deal about 21 percent of the online consumers disliking Blu-ray because Sony included it in the PlayStation 3? I can see several reasons why poeple might resent Blu-ray, but this is definitely not one of them
Really? Not because Blu-Ray adds a considerable amount to the price of the PS3? Not because the lack of blue laser diodes means that the PS3 is in very short supply? Not because Sony is using the PS3 to try to win the format war against HD-DVD by trying to make the consumers choice for them?
That strategy won't work this time. Look at third party support for the iPod. Car manufacturers are fitting iPod compatible stereos in their vehicles. Airlines are fitting iPod docks on plane seats. These, to my mind, are the killer apps, not crippled wi-fi sharing. The longer Microsoft leaves it before getting the Zune right, the more entrenched the iPod will become. Without third party support, the Zune will fail. Without sales, the Zune won't attract third parties. Microsoft needed to get this one right first time and, by all accounts, they've failed. The black Zune is hardly selling. The brown and white ones aren't selling at all (source Amazon.com).
It'll be dead and gone if no-one is buying them - which they aren't. When the Zune launched it went straight into the top 10 of Amazons Electronics best seller list http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics. Now, less than two weeks after launch, the black Zune is down to number 83 at time of writing (and dropping each day). The Brown and White Zunes have both dropped out of the top 500. In comparison, there are no fewer than eleven iPods in the top 25 (five of them in the top 10). The Sandisk mp3 players are outselling Zune too. With sales like that, I can't see the Zune surviving long.
At time of writing, the brown Zune is at number 79 in the Amazon top 100 (black Zune is down to number 21). I don't expect the brown zune to still be in the top 100 after the weekend.
"I would lean to them thinning the market, for Christmas. It makes the demand go up and causes a frenzy of buyers looking for it. As well as news about how the hot Christmas item, the PS3, is in short supply."
I did a double take over H.264 at first, but maybe Microsoft have realised that they have to support these formats or end up with a dead duck that no-one wants.
I can confirm that the second half of Abbey Road now plays properly on iTunes 7 and my 5G video ipod. 'Polythene Pam' goes into 'She Came in through the Bathroom Window' with no gap at all. Abbey Road as it was meant to be! Happy dance!
Michael Johnson's design looks terrible on 1.5.0.3 on OS X. The fonts are unreadably tiny using the default Firefox settings, as well as the other problems already mentioned.
buyers won't touch it if it doesn't match upto the lates Duke Nukem,
And just how long is it since the latest Duke Nukem was released? 10 years?

Sudo vs. Root
·
· Score: 4, Informative
4. Allowing non-human users (e.g. www) to execute a strictly limited set of commands as root.
For example, I have this command in my sudoers file:
www ALL = NOPASSWD:/sbin/ipfw add 2000 deny ip from [0-9.]* to any in
This allows apache to use/sbin/ipfw to add the ip addresses of script kiddies to the firewall. Note that only adding addresses to one particular rule (in this case rule 2000) is allowed - any other usage of ipfw will fail.
I think a far more interesting proposition would be to pit a 100lb pit bull against 100lbs of chihuahuas. -- Please help foster pets in need of medical care! [bcaaofnj.org]
And while the Z5 can't play songs from Apple's iTunes Music Store, it can play songs from Rhapsody, Napster, Musicmatch, MSN Music, Wal-Mart, AOL Music Now, Yahoo Music and other members of the "MMS-MMS" consortium (Microsoft-based Music Stores with Minuscule Market Share).
By manufacturer:
Nintendo: 2055K consoles sold
Sony: 1253 consoles sold
MS: 511K consoles sold
Looks like we have a clear winner, in terms of units shipped. Next months numbers will be even more interesting.

What software do you recommend to do this? I tried Videolan but couldn't make it work successfully from iMac to iBook. Thnks

They sounded fine to me too.

640x272 is not good. I was hoping that it would be 640x480 with anamorphic 16:9 widescreen (like widescreen dvds)
I would have moderated that comment up, but there is no "+1 Flamebait" option.
Your waife? What's that - like a very thin wife?

The name was a joke that John Lennon made, "Let's call it Apple Corp" ('corp' being pronounced 'core').
Much as I love the Beatles, I'm glad that Apple lost this silly case (and that Apple won)
Here's a few clues for you, since you don't seem to have any:
Firstly, HDMI is not "a proprietary version of DVI created by Sony". See http://www.hdmi.org/
Secondly, all "HD Ready" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_ready) HDTVs sold here in Europe have HDMI.
Thirdly DVI to HDMI adapters are not expensive. You can get one for about $7 on Ebay, including postage.
Fourthly, HDMI is not a form of DRM. HDCP is DRM, but HDCP can be implemented on DVI as well as HDMI.

Would this also work on the three blind mice?
They're too late. Microsoft has been producing turd os's with dope windowing systems for years now.

Don't tell us that you've already tried this.

A little while ago, I received an e-mail from a lady in the Trading Standards department of a large northern town
They worked perfectly on my Mac with VLC.
