Beware of making broad statements like "Russians love to have a powerful leader." There are many nations in the world which have long histories of autocracy before converting to more liberal democratic systems. The fact that Russia hasn't made it so far is more likely due to the specific facts of Russian history and less likely due to broad cultural phenomenon. (Not that the latter can't have an impact on the former.)

We GET it, already. This whole thread has been nothing but the British (and Anglophiles) claiming that British comedy is inherently superior to American crap. Unfortunately, no one NOTICES that British comedy is superior unless people insist on loudly arguing the point. So what do you think that says?

The funny thing was, I had heard that Metal Gear Solid 2 had the most ridiculous story line in the history of mankind, so I avoided the game. But everybody loved the original MGS, right? So when Snake Eaters came out, I got that. Good Lord! It's hard to believe that they could actually come up with something more thoroughly ridiculous than that game. The play mechanics were great, but every time a cut scene came up my brain started bleeding.

First of all, there have been no reports that Nintendo is considering anything at all like getting into digital music. Second, it's been a long time since Nintendo dominated any markets aside from handhelds. Unless you're talking about some other firm in Redmond, but I can't imagine who.

To me, it seems like such an event wouldn't warrant DM intervention at all, with the possible exception of creating a new quest to bring back the skulls of the perps. I mean, c'mon, this is supposed to be roleplaying (at least in theory) -- let the guys who want to be thugs be thugs, and the guys who want to be heroes be heroes! So often these games are devoid of meaningful character interaction, and yet the rules always seem to be set up specifically to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

In a way, that's nice to hear. So long as American cultural products are too expensive for members of the Argentinian middle class, it encourages the growth of local culture -- homegrown music, theater, and film. I don't know if I have a rational reason for being heartened to hear that, it just strikes me as a good thing.

Amen to the fact that you don't have to be a Jedi. Jedis aren't gods. It's just another character class. I think that the emphasis on Jedis stems from the lack of features in the game right now. Given the chance, I'd like to be Boba Fett or Han Solo over Luke Skywalker any day -- problem being that Han Solo ain't much without a ship to fly around in, and the bounty hunting in Galaxies is not as interesting as it might be.

If you're going to refer to morality and ethics, then you ought to make a moral or ethical argument that stealing cable is the wrong thing to do. You don't miss because the shot randomly goes astray, you miss because at an initial stage your character's hands shake, causing the target on the screen to shake around. You can still make a head shot at point blank range. Farther away, the head is a comparitively small target, and the shaking makes it difficult to be certain that you have a good shot.

The obvious solution to that is the patented DX ShakyHands (TM). Just as control with the sniper rifle was extremely difficult in the first game prior to upgrading the skill, so should it be difficult to use any weapon prior to getting biomods. A bullet to the head ought to kill, or at least put an enemy out of the picture for the near future. Rather than upping the disbelief factor by requiring you to shoot a guard four times in the head, they could have just made it harder to hit the head comparatively speaking, thus further immersing the player and avoiding the silliness that we're faced with now.
