Its easy as hell to work on an engine, and hell if you want to do it right you could even get the chiltons manual for the car and just follow the step by step instructions with pictures. It could be said for just about any trade where the result isn't something that has to be functional and pretty at the same time.
I heard he owns 5 or 6 959s, about 50% of all the ones that they made for the US. He also owns a few other various Porsche's, from a 930 to a 968, and probably tons more to fill up the 30 car garage that he has at his house.
Acutally if you can afford a new honda civic you can probably afford a used porsche. Older 924 and 944 models go for under 10K USD, and you can get a mid 80s 911 for around 30K USD. The part that is expensive is the insurance, and when they break its a good bit to replace the parts.
In a battle of the titans which is bigger and has more govermental protection, the RIAA or Verizon? I know that Verizon is essentally a state sponsered monopoly, whereas the RIAA just kinda pushes laws through like the NRA and other industry type groups.
So which one do you think has more weight in the govermental arenas?
I'm sorry but coming from someone who is supposedly a train (go look deltic up on google, as far as I can tell your a talking/posting to slashdot train) that insult doesn't carry much weight. I would say that Perens is right, he was addressing another aspect of making pixar like movies on a personal computer, being able to tell a story effectivly and without boring the audience is something that computer technology can't solve (barring the creation of AI). So I would say in everyone's eyes you are the ass.
I'm confused as to how the south wasn't the agressors even though they attacked first? Or am I mistaken and there was some small battle before that which the north attacked first?
You can get tools that let you see the diag codes from your car for around 200 I think. They work reliably on cars made after '91 I think. Search around and I think you can find it, there's some sort of protocol that is standerized.
You didn't follow the link did you, VR Quake would use up a good bit more bandwith then regular quake and I would assume that Gbit ethernet would be better for this seeing how that's what most VR type things are used.
Maybe they can't/down't want to spend $225 for that bundle when they could just wait and get it for the usual 60 bucks. Its not like all of the suddent people are gonna just give up playing it all at once. I mean there are still people playing Starcraft, Diablo I, and other such games.
Acutally I think if you look around you can find that 4 countries could produce all the food needed in the world. Argintina, US, Canada, and Austraila. We are also the most efficent about it, we only need a few people to work the huge amounts of land. But I agree with your final point.
Well in most cases the cable OPERATOR is the same as the cable ISP. And just because they have to know it doesn't mean that they have to log it. If they are logging all the data that flows though their network they must have one hell of a system devoted to storing it and filtering though it. And knowing who you are is diffrent from keeping track of any information you generate.
Even if it was 500 Billion dollars some nations, heck or even a bunch of companies working together could do it. I mean Microsoft has 40 billion just sitting around, the top 5 companies in the world could probably build one if they thought there was a way to get a good return on their investment
You should check out Be OS, I think that filesystem is based around a database with metadata in. I've never used it but that might be what your looking for.
I take it your car maintains itself, as do your pipes and your electrical system and you have never had the need for a mechanic, plumber or any other such labor orianted service industries?
I suppose you also think that its possible to build a virus scanner that will catch all possible viruses?
hey, I think he is saying once we have nano-tech then you wouldn't have to wait in long lines because it would be near instantanous to get something. So yes it is a dream and he presented it as such, as in once we have nano-tech and other such advances that make it cost prohibitive to acutally work. Where it would be cheaper for AI's and robots and nanites to do the acutal work. That would lead to a communistic socity where everyone has everything because the basic problem of economics would be solved, there would be endless supply for the endless demand.

I heard that Winston Churchill said this to a lady at a dinner party when they were discussing the topic of whores

You have a link to that? That sounds pretty cool if so. Is it in the same resolution and level of detail?

Yeah but i-love-unix.com would get ranked higher then both because it would encompass more search terms.

I think that Hybrid is also worth a look
BT doesn't just mix other peoples music. Most of his stuff from what I've seen is his own.
um, did you read the article? They only had acess to it for like an hour...that would be pressed for time.
So does this mean that IBM will also stop doing R&D for new drives and storage techniques such as the stuff they are doing at Almaden?
erm dude, Virus != Worm, might want to look that up

try using reiserfs or xfs or I think ext3 supports larger partitions.

yeah and when you fall off at 70mph you are fucked up, whereas in a car you might only be slightly injured
