I feel like the highly-rated comments all miss one of the most important points: Once you're infected, running an anti-virus program doesn't fix your problems.
To me it sounds like it isn't that people don't want to have a "good" computer, but rather that they need to reinstall their operating system (and patch, etc.) but don't.
That's why I played on my friend's 10-day guest account that was included with his game. He had both a DVD and the cds so we didn't even have to be in the same state.
Surprisingly, this is basically the same thing you get when you walk up to an information display on the wall (except the website doesn't have the information specific to the room you're standing in front of).
Everything actually looks really awesome right now. Too bad most of it isn't staying in the building after the weekend.
I don't use KaZaA for music anymore. In fact, I don't use anything for music anymore. I bought the new Viva Voce CD and get samplers with Paste Magazine every few months. That's about all I've done recently.
Ah, for the days of Audio Galaxy (before they banned searches). I could actually find rare music then...
I've played the game and I can tell you right now that these "cut scenes" (fade in/out images with voiceover) are no big deal. I was shocked that the WarCraft III between-battles scenes had more action.
Works for me. I didn't pay taxes until I was over 25. 'Course, I didn't have a job, either. The tricky part is finding a girlfriend with an apartment, car, and job. Jobs are for people who aren't very good at sex.
Dude, last I checked, your girlfriend wasn't that bad.
Um, no. Everyone may thank five citizens [supremecourtus.gov] and an obsolete and outmoded Consitutional body [fec.gov] for the current leadership. See what you get when you let democracy break down, people?
Wow. Out of the 9 replies you had so far, none of them pointed out that, though people can argue back and forth about the president being elected or not, there is no argument about the Congress being correctly elected. The president doesn't pass laws.

...Isn't it more cost effective to grow your own hydrogen with electrolysis and a solar panel back home?
Except for the part where the wind keeps blowing the panels off your roof.
All I'm saying is: don't keep a dog in your backyard.

millions of Windows boxes are so infested with spyware that they are basically unusable, and yet most non-technical people still seem ambivalent
How else will we create a need for hardware upgrades?
Surely I'm not the only one that saw the opening Futurama sequence when I looked at those covers on that website.

Anyway, to provide you with some other cool associated things:
web cam, VRML model of building. Enjoy.
PS Though I have complaints, I'm leaving those to the other trolls.
There were no lines that are worthy of geeks repeating
Are you kidding? I quote the kid all the time:
"Woah man. This thing's flying."
"Hey man. I can shoot."
"Woah man. My lines suck."
Or one of the older Jedi dudes:
"This kid has a million mitochondria! Let's never speak of this again."

if it were true that Apple's intentions were to only make money off the ipod, they WOULD support .wmv
Yeah, those guys don't even have a screen on the thing. You'd think they'd get with the program.
It is about time technology issues started screwing over poor people.
the mentalities of the RIAA and the 12 year old girl are probably pretty close
They both like the way Windows XP looks?
If we as an industry were populated by cynical and legalistic mercinaries we wouldn't have these problems.
I'm doing my part.
Since the United States Department of Justice refuses to tell me what rights I have for fair use, I am going to go ahead and do whatever I want.
Yes, everyone predicted they wouldn't answer these, but I held out hope that we would actually find out what the law says we can do.
(Yes, I'm pissed off)
I'm finally coming to rue the day that I gave them false information and signed up for an account.
They're weeding you out! Beware!
must be the great customer service.
I knew there was an explanation somewhere.
I'm a little confused. I thought we didn't even have enough money to keep the arts in schools anymore.
You only need like a 233 with a wireless card to play tetrinet during all your classes.
I know this is a little late so nobody will read it but whatever.
The one thing that screwed me over was that I didn't take a senior-level Automata/Formal Languages course. I got jacked by questions like:
I A context-free language is also a regular language
II A regular language is also a context-free language
III Your mom
Which of the above statements are true?
a. I, II, III
b. I, III
c. I, II
d. III
e. eat me
Still, I got into grad school...

...was when he said that the area he had gotten into was a big top-secret area "according to lab sources".
It turns out that my basement is actually a top-secret area for Los Alamos National Labs too. My sources from the lab told me so.
..."works similarly to to nicotine or birth control patches"...
Oh yeah, there's a warehouse mixup waiting to happen.
"Yes, I'm pregnant, but at least I don't have to worry about those extra B vitamins."
...but I'll read anything that has a Tick reference in the teaser
I knew we should have invited them to our LAN party (we had the room right after they left).
Fame has abandoned me again.
