We haven't heard any solid proof of a complete failure of Tor's privacy to catch a criminal through a serious exploit. There's a theory out there that a government agency wouldn't blow their cover just to arrest some copyright infringer or small time law breaker on a hidden service. They instead are passively spying to covertly and constantly catch terrorists who think they're protected or they're preparing for a gigantic sweep and mass arrests. What do you think is the likelihood of a situation like that being true, where the NSA or something similar has completely broken Tor and we just don't know it yet?

Insurance companies need a giant base of numbers to determine probability. When they don't, you get month-after-ACA type prices. Humana had no idea what would happen when they picked up 10 million very unhealthy people under the ACA plan so all ACA plans were about 4x the price of my identical non-ACA compliant plan. So in other words, when insurance companies gamble on something without enough data, they guess. When they guess, the price skyrockets.
I've used a fake last name for over a year now, never uploaded a single photo of me, disallowed tagging of me in photos, and never gave it a single interest or music profile or dating status or any of that crap. So keep in mind that that's an option too.
Search Google for "hp support" or "sony drivers" or "microsoft support" or "firefox download." You'll see 2-3 ads for fraud, viruses, rigged download sites, etc. WHY THE HELL DOES GOOGLE ALLOW THIS?! They already got a gigantic fine for allowing illegal pharmaceutical ads. Why not block all these assholes running scams from buying ads? The same goes for Facebook. Since both companies are completely evil and make most of their money one way, the obvious answer is money. Those are hot, expensive keywords they're advertising under and the high click rate means it's probably double digit percentages of their total income. Time for the FTC to drop the hammer on both of them.

You know what I'd like to see? An IQ test of anyone who uses Apple products all the time and an IQ test of people who use anything else. Because an intelligent person would use both and really before even powering it on, the micro SD slot would make it a clear winner.
My company doesn't even take in 10 mil a year and we have an outside auditor. No bank would give us a loan without having an auditor and it didn't have to be one of theirs. So you're definitely right.
