Did you know that you shouldn't put uncooked eggs in the microwave either? I think inside water they survive but that's still a very dumb way to boil them. Outside of water, they will blow the door clear off your microwave. I bet not everyone here knew that one.
You know what's funny about this? AT&T owns almost all physical phone lines in my area. They're legally forced to lease the lines to lesser, more local and 2nd rate DSL providers at a "reasonable" price. Now if TDS leases lines and uses a ton of bandwidth on AT&T's lines, AT&T doesn't bill them per 100GB or something like that. So even AT&T has to admit that it's not being damaged by high bandwidth or they would be charging lesser carriers more money if a bunch of their customers hop on Netflix, BUT THEY DON'T. Less infrastructure upgrades means more profits and that's it. It's not like netflix is collapsing their backbone.
I think the mental patient that wrote that summary got sort of close to my feelings on this issue. What he hopefully meant to say was that engineering, product development, technology, etc are real things. Science is not real things. It's theories. Over the lats 500 years, about 99% of science was found to be incorrect. Yet, today people think we're so darn smart that everything is now magically correct...and then they find out that photons can crystallize. It's like everyone has no hindsight whatsoever and they keep presenting strongly-supported scientific theory as fact.
Besides screwing with laws and government funding, the worst part is that scientists keep operating this way and when they're proven wrong, their career is over. You can't just say "this is the absolute new truth we discovered" and then be wrong and keep getting grants and jobs. All they need is a "we're pretty certain but lack solid evidence but this is the best guess at this time so we'll operate under this assumption until it is proven wrong" type of attitude and science would be much better.
"If the intruder were carrying chemical, biological or radiological weapons and President Obama and his family had been in, we would have had a dead president as well as a dead first family."
And then Joe Biden would be president! WE CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN!
No! Not even Paypal has that level of customer support. They don't give a flying fuck about security or verifying their sellers. Every other seller is a scammer in the electronics section. They openly provide them with your e-mail so you get fraud spam selling RAM and SSDs forever. That would be a major violation of security in 1998 let alone 2014. They're so hell bent on money money money and all their e-mails from the company themselves are misleading scams. The whole gold certification is a joke. I can't even begin to compare them to any US company.
Ohhhhhh yeah it's going to sink a bit. Half the sellers are criminal scammers or have no English support whatsoever despite making millions. Chinese labor is going up so manufacturing prices are looking better in the US and every Chinese business owner absolutely hates Alibaba. So "the price might drop"? Yeah, I think that's a category 5 shitstorm blowing in actually. Anyone stupid enough to invest in them will lose their ass.
56 million people shop there? What the hell is wrong with people? Do they only have Home Depot in their community? Their lack of any customer service of any kind, confusing aisles, and inability to carry anything anyone needs makes me wonder why anyone would still shop there.
"That ship has not only sailed long ago, but has circled the world hundreds of times, sunk, been dragged up, turned into a tourist attraction, went out of business, and been gutted and retrofitted as a more profitable oil tanker." ...and then hijacked by pirates.
You forgot the most realistic and easily proven dark matter theory. It's a math error! If the Star Ship Enterprise can't estimate total matter in the entirety of the universe, I don't think a Xeon can. You have to compensate for billion of years of light delay over an even scale while space is expanding the entire time that the light is traveling through it and be flawlessly accurate on the counts of individual atoms. You get one single thing wrong like mass vs perceived light bending around a black hole and you miss half the miss in every black hole in the universe. If there's a 100% black hole universe, you might have missed the whole damn thing. I mean come on! Oh look, lightning...it must be Zeus! Oh look, a floating thing with a light in the sky...must be aliens coming to visit! Can we go back to science and stick to the most likely explanation for once? Dark matter isn't real!
What the hell do I need a home datacenter for? I have a PC with 3 hard drives, a TV tuner card, dual monitors, a projector, and a tablet. Why would I get a datacenter server, just to have one? Because I like the sound of 50dB fans? Because I don't know how to fit 3 hard drives in an ATX desktop case? I don't even have a server at my computer repair business. My "servers" are my mirrored 64GB flash drives and my point of sale laptop.
And lions eat deer and invasive species commit genocide against native species. That's nature. All the hippies need to get over it and come back to reality.
Their company sucks. Their prices suck. They're overbudget on everything. Their business strategy sucks. Java is the worst thing that has happened in all human history. No wonder nobody wanted the job and they had to half fill it with two people.
They announced that they killed Thunderbird too several months after the fact. It was months and months after the latest update, suddenly they're like "Oh yeah, that? We're done with that." Outlook sucks, Windows Live mail sucks, Incredemail is a disease, and Eudora is dead as well. There are a grand total of zero good e-mail programs out there now. What were they thinking?
Actually, they announced what they were thinking. They're focusing on making new versions of Firefox every single month for no reason and causing massive crash glitches, incompatibilities with webpages, and an all out war with Flash player as well as a go-nowhere phone OS project. Great choice! But what would you expect from a company that gets over 90% of its money from Google, who makes a competing product.
And all of this right after they proved their amazing focus on security with the icloud hack...and the fingerprint reader that didn't work worth a crap...and the announcement of dozens of security flaws in iOS8...and their gotofail SSL flaw in iOS7 and on and on and on.
Nobody wants NFC and nobody wants their kids paying for things with their iphones. You'd think the multi-million dollar lawsuit about kids making purchases on their iphones might have hinted at that. This is a disaster. It's like a glaring reason to not buy an iphone.
"One concern is that people who use artificial sweeteners may replace the lost calories through other sources, possibly offsetting weight loss or health benefits, says Dr. Ludwig. This can happen because we like to fool ourselves: “I’m drinking diet soda, so it’s okay to have cake.”
WOW! What a biochemical analysis breakthrough! Oh wait, no, it's just puffed up nothing.
"Overstimulation of sugar receptors from frequent use of these hyper-intense sweeteners may limit tolerance for more complex tastes,” explains Dr. Ludwig. That means people who routinely use artificial sweeteners may start to find less intensely sweet foods"
So in other words, artificial sweeteners have no bearing on weight gain at all and eating high calorie foods does! I never would have thought!
As for the new study, mice and humans have different gut bacteria. The entire study is hyped up nonsense after you realize that. This is "aspartame causes cancer" all over again, which by the way, incorrectly used mice in their study as well.
So are they allowed to teach that Muhammed traveled around with Christians then made his own fake version of the religion with his own idiotic modifications to it? Because that's sort of history but sort of religious teaching too.
Non-technical people are too frustrated by smart home systems because they don't know how they work, they're constantly misconfiguring them, and they don't know what to do when they break. Technical people and smart enough to know that it's a giant hacker target and stupid marketing fluff for a detrimental product. That leaves a market of....nobody.
You're an idiot. You're mixing up viruses with bacteria. Most bacterial infections are on exposed areas like wounds or sores or directly on the skin where they can be treated. Plus, epsom salt soaks into the skin a significant distance.
Did you know that you shouldn't put uncooked eggs in the microwave either? I think inside water they survive but that's still a very dumb way to boil them. Outside of water, they will blow the door clear off your microwave. I bet not everyone here knew that one.
This is Apple customers, dude. Most of them think we didn't land on the moon and think Apple can do no wrong and has never had a defective product.
Ah yes, because medical science won't advance at all in the next 50 years. I might put my brain in a robot body by 75.

Why didn't they all hop on exercise bikes with alternators? That would have been around 24 megawatts of electricity.

That's because they never win the World Series.
Um, yes it is. Humans broke it by being too intelligent. Now it's merely adaptation. Any other species gets a big advantage and we kill it.

Linux doesn't run anything that any of my customers need and I got too many support calls about it when I did sell it.
