Seriously. If it's just that easy to make another application "work" under Linux as to recompile, then it would be more likely to get ported when a company like mine said, "That's very pretty, but does it run on our Redhat clients?" And, like it or not, a LOT of legacy business applications are written in Visual Basic, and will be for some time to come.
With the current administration?
Bah. They'd pay a few million to whoever bought Google after the company collapsed. Vista will integrate MSN search with everything possible.
I see nothing wrong with the latter: it's software that's worth the amount they're asking, and the open alternatives aren't quite there yet. Now, just for a single plugin, no, it might not be worth it, but if they have a pro version that they are going to charge for, there must exist a line after which they begin charging.
As for the former, I am running it under Wine right now. Admittedly, I'd prefer a native *nix port, but as long as I get my IM fix, I'm happy.
Bah! Evolution!
Actually, His Noodleyness is unhappy with us for denying Him and is working on our replacements. These are the future of 'Big Business'.
I agree with you, wholeheartedly, until the last. I don't ALWAYS comment my code to the extent I should. Perhaps that leaves me in the poor programmer side, but I've had people come in years later and tell me that my code was nice and maintainable. I had one look me up at a new job just to tell me how well-written a piece was. Talk about an ego boost.
I agree with parent poster, with the exception of one item:
No one is really certain that Microsoft, creator of C#, will not try to hold some type of litigation against Mono. If such happened, at the least, the libraries would change, and at the most, mono itself would disappear. In fact, such an argument is the primary reason management at my job turned down C# for a large cross-platform project, instead favoring java, or even C++ over it. _IF_ the legal status of Mono was clear, I would happily code almost any smaller application I wrote in it. It's really an excellent language.
I think they're very cool.
Now, maybe, I will finally be able to convince a few people to switch from AIM to another service.
I want them. Developers, Developers, Developers!

That's insidious! I cannot believe Microsoft would do such a thing!
Buy benches?

Did anyone else think of the inanimate carbon rod when he mentioned the next cubicle is a printer?
Next moon landing? Bah. I'm thinking colonization of local star systems! Porn is a big industry, no pun intended.
Please! I would love to give it a try!

I very rarely get my dinner from a doctor. On occasion, a coroner, yes, but rarely fresh from a doctor.

Considering the quality of the movies Hollywood is putting out these days, I'm not too sure that would be a bug...
Because we all know that KDE is far superior to Gnome?
Unix, windows and perl?
For every copy of SCO Unixware! A total of... $699!
The markings give it away. You don't really want to keep it. It's garbage from a pre-civilized era.

Whew.
For a moment there, I was worried about the sodomy one....
What? Why is everyone looking at me so funny?
Sorry, the position is already taken. Some 'Darrl MicBryde' or something
Hell, I'm using it to replace my company's screen-scraping applications, one-by-one, with something a little more computer-friendly.
Wear pants with bigger pockets.
Not that I actually looked, but maybe http://static.thepiratebay.org/downloadtorrent/336 2112.torrent/Microsoft.Windows.Vista.Codename.Long horn.Beta.1.32Bit.DVD.READ..3362112.TPB.torrent is what you are looking for.

I just don't have the terabyte needed to run both...
