  2. Drive SCO out of the GPL loop on SCO Wants $699 for Linux Systems · · Score: 1

Wonder what would happen if the GPL terms+conditions were modified so that anti-open-source companies like SCO were not permitted to distribute GPL-licensed programs as part of their own product?

We've had it already with the SPARC vs x86 debate and the Solaris vs Linux debate.
Now another split, with Sun not being able to make their mind up over which flavour to support.

  10. Re:What a load of tripe. on Shattering Windows · · Score: 1

Viruscan's GUI is very poorly written and doesn't check for a maximum length on a text box's input.
After reading the paper I got the impression that there's a whole load of apps which are prone to this type of attack. Perhaps someone can clarify this?

Wonder why they didn't go for a SAN solution, so first cluster writes to a volume on the SAN, and the second cluster just reads the data from the SAN, rather than squirting huge files across an IP network?

  15. MAME to the Masses on No Love From Microsoft For Xbox Modders · · Score: 2, Interesting

Microsoft making a big song and dance about this will surely result in more publicity for MAME. Wonder how long it'll be until there's a MAME that'll work on X-BOX without needing a mod-chip? That'll really hurt MS as lots of people get lots of great games, and MS don't make a dime out of it - heck, they actually lose money because the console itself is a loss-leader (even if they are using slave labor over in China now to make 'em)

M$ didn't sue Billy Graham back in '97 when his campaign ended up using this slogan. Why the preferential treatment for Billy G., other than the fact that he shares the same initials as Mr Gates himself, and that he's got friends upstairs?
