There is little reason for most students to take upper level math. As a historian and a writer, i never EVER use anything more than arithmetic or geometry. Not being able to do calculus has never ones been a problem in my education or work.
In fact, when i was applying for grad schools a year ago, i asked the head of the department that i am in now if my VERY low GRE math score would be a problem. The answer was very clearly "no"
at any rate...American schools need to give kids the option of doing a calculus track in math or a statistics track in math.
i came across this on lifehacher.com but i have not have a chance to try it out. I don't think this is going to fix your linux problem..but it might be useful for all the other mac/win people out there
I had bought about 200 songs off iTMS in the 2 years i have been using it. Not a single song was from EMI. I don't know what that is important to this discussion, but if felt like sharing.
I used to be a regular reader of Computer Gaming World and PC Gamer, but ones broadband came online in my area, it no longer made scene to keep getting print mags. Gamespot, and IGN covered all the same things that the print mags had, but the Demo Disk was by far the major reason i kept getting them. However, with broadband, i no longer even needed the demo disc.
While the mags will be missed, the internet is far better of a medium for game journalism than print.
Google Apps seems like a really great idea for Universities. We spend SO much money on MS Office and related products. Graduate Students in my department had to share computers (6 to a PC) until this summer. Now we have crippled dell's which can barely run powerpoint, or do any significant work in Photoshop.
I'm I right in understanding that the way cell phone companies control their towers now, I to call it a cartel?
Additionally, the cellphone makers are leasing public property (the airwaves) and building a fence around them to keep the public out (unless you buy a key / plan from them)
it might also be noted the BGSU, along with other state universities in ohio force graduate students on assistantships to sign forms saying that they are not members, or have not supported terrorist groups.
Since these are stored in university archives, and not checked, new graduate studies are (more or less) required by the state to sign loyalty oaths.
Just letting people know i started camping out in front of my local Barnes and Noble This afternoon. If anyone could bring me some coffee, that would be super-sweet.
Im going to get back to writing my erotic fan fiction where Hairy and lee adama from Battlestar Galactica become close friends (wink wink)
at this point i have a nano, one of the free cell phones (POS) one gets when they sign up for service, and blackberries / windows mobile devices are over priced and under powered
so the idea of the iphone really excited me, until I thought about. This is not a consumer product, at least no more than the average smart phone. There is no way I can affored the 1000+ real-dollars the iphone is going to cost in its 1st year of service.
What apple needs to do is release another iphone, only without the phone, kinda like Palm's LifeDrive.
that sucks - i dont know if anyone else has had to put together a very larger power point on a mac book pro, but it is freaking slow. When the file hits 70megs it starts to hit a crawl.
i would much rather see comic books or novels that a fucking MMO - the show was so good b/c of its writing, it was the well that stories were told. there is just no way this can translate to a video game - less so for a fucking MMO
I loved both firefly and Serenity, but i dont feel that the film lived of the the high standard of excellences of Wheaton et al. Wonder Woman news im sure will start to come out in a few months and than who knows what. I would love to see a new TV show, maybe something on HBO....that will never happen
We have been seeing articles like this for 3 years now. That is great, the more positive talk about a NASA project the better.
The thing that always seems to be missing is: why did these two robots continue to work so well, and, how do we go about repeating their success?

What about the Nintendo Power with Simon Bellmont holding the bloody head of a vampire on the cover

Its to bad Leia looks like she has Anorexia.
Fuck Context Menus /mac user
thats right, i said: "fuck context menus"
As totally hot as a wide screen ipod (more hopefully a phoneless iphone) makes me. I'll believe it when i see it.
Rumors are only that, rumors, and we have been hearing these same rumors for months (if not years now).
ml
it is the mostmassively useful thing a backpacker can have

Are these metaphors off base?

Powerpoint is the most unyieldy of the Office sweet - i cant imagine trying to use it as a Web-app, except for the most basic things

BAH!
Isnt Gen-Con have a 10 year hitch in Indy?
or will this take the place of the winter event?
Does anyone have any details on which flavor of Vista will be made available for university licenses?
