No psych buff here but I remember reading that the association for names is stored in a different place, a more recent area that lives outside the hippocampus (primitive or early brain), probably because language skills came later on the evolution cycle. You can remember the aftershave/perfume they wear, mental image of their features and the way they walk, habits etc. because they are more closely linked to the hippocampus. Think early man and what he needed to know to survive, that's at the core and readily accessed, everything else was shuffled to the back.
So, I don't know if there is a name for it but I think it's just normal, everyone has it to a certain degree.
The service appears to be similar to what Magnatune offers. Magnatune is a record label that signs artists and offers an honest preview. Files are available for purchase in various formats, mp3, wav, ogg, vbr and also (from memory) flac. You can download one format or all, it's your choice.
I've tried the service, downloaded the formats I wanted and there is no catch to it.
While the selection on Magnatune may be considered limited it should improve with time.
It's surprising just how long books can stay in circulation.
20 odd years ago I sold a large part of my Moorcock "Eternal Champion" Series to a local 2nd handbook dealer. Last year my son discovers those I hadn't flogged of and decides he likes them enough to pursue the series. He sets off for the 2nd hand bookstores in the next suburb and turns up several of the originals I sold - my name in the cover removes all doubt.
Approximately 20 years in circulation, all within a couple of suburbs radius. The original bookshop has long gone - (Cory & Collins in Melb, Aust., they were good for Sci-Fi)
So draw your own conclusions but I still find it amazing, believable only because it was first hand experience.
Failing that it resolves to

using the Open Root-Server Confeds alternative.
I must admit it all gets a tad confusing at times. I plugged the Open Root-Servers into dnscache the other day but now there's another alternative?
Sheez....
Do I want the red one, yellow one or the striped shiny one? Too many choices.
For flash and eeproms Willem has the original hardware design with source available - dos is only a port away?
With that is the later version of the above Willem program with windows software available as freeware.
The board (double sided) for this is available fromWillem, contact him through his site or via the forum
There is a single sided version available, it's just rather cramped. The site is spread over several ISP's so you'll need to follow a few links to get a good grasp of whats there.
Finally a Linux one can be found through the Diskless HowTo. This won't do flash but has the linux software available as well as the design . It's the closest to open hardware that you'll find. While it may not have layout diagrams or photos, it's been around for a while so maybe someones enhanced it?
I'll admit two of those may be the simple ones you refer too , but the third - Willem or geocities will do flash, it has dos source available and does work. I've used it for flash as well as eeproms. It'd be nice to see a linux port of it, save booting the dedicated 486;-)
The installer crash has been happening for a day or two as I usually run a script for the nightlys however that doesn't permit the retry from completing the process.
That script is here and has made downloading the nightlys a breeze (the above installer issues aside).
From memory it's another/.'ers script, so if they're reading then "I tips my hat" to them for the time saving.
Are you saying that they should be forced to release all their documents in TXT format just because some poor slob can use/usr/local/bin/pico to view it? PDF is an Internet (dare I say industry) standard nowadays.
HTML would do, most people would be more interested in reading it first.
Your troll would've been better without the supercilious tones too.

Ha! and right you are.
Looks like it should be http://collect.myspace.com/misc/tour_2.html rather than http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/misc/tour_2.html , and to make matters worse it happens for the next five pages.
It makes you wonder doesn't it.

Visit moodle.org.
It covers the weblog part of what you want and allows the addition of Journals, Surveys and Quizzes.
If in doubt, use popwer of ten!
Is that like ppreview?

They have an alternate link which should work.
