Well, the philosophers stone was an object out of myth, circa 200-250c, for doing base alchemy of the whole lead->gold sort. Its entire function and purpose don't really have anything at all to do with philosophy, so changin it really shouldn't be that big a deal.
its no so bad in the burbs. Take metro in, or work an hour-off scheudle, and traffic become easily managable. And as for protesters, who else can you irritate as easily? Its fun, try if you're here on a vacation or something.
On my personal computer, I've paid for OmniWeb. I work for an all mac, underfunded nonprofit though. (yay macs, since with them we can get away with 2 full time techs and a 20 hour research assistantfor about 100 users, and still mamange to do allthe fun sys admining and webcasting stuff we have to do). Getting the funding to pay an extra $10 for 100 computers, when there are free alternatives available that are jstu as (or almost) as good just isn't going to happen.
Not unless they can gget OmniWeb to get rid of the nagware. Nobody pays for browsers anymore, and while it is a good browser, I'm not a big fan of that watermark being there when its in the background.
Interesting. I've found M$'s apps to be quite stable in X, and office to be significantly zippier that 98 was. Thats on both a 500MHz iMac and a Dual-1GHz. Much zippier on the dual, but, I mean, duh.
Yeah, but tthats why we have these pesky things called laws to protect us from a) companies, b) each other, c) our own ignorance. Cerrtain things in society you take on faith, like that fact that eacting a bowl of cheris in tthe morning won't cause spontaneous combustion in every person who eats it. This is why we have the sickinging amount of laws and regulations we have, to limit people from screwing each other over.
If you're woried about them not treating your kids right, For god's sake don't hire them! You're leaving thm home alone with your children, and yet you don't trust them enough not to have a video camera?
Why would you hire someone you had slightest inkling might molest your children? You've hired someone to be alone in your house with your kids, I'd have hoped you checked into them ahead of time. I know I wouldn't have baby sat for anybody who was taping me, just like most people here wouldn't work at a place where thier boss read theri mail.
Off topic, but could you point me to a good tutorial on how create a mirror for a website? I could d/l the content manually, but mirroring's one I've never looked into.
Ok, so heres where I stand: The cell phone companies can do this sutff anyway, right? So if the police have a proper warrent to get this information, then mroe power to em. Now, I'd like to be informed that information about me has been seized, but otherwise, I see no problem with this. Checks and balances at work.
Right, but when some of us view as "Mauture" can slo be veiwed as "bloat". My money say that unfortunatly, as it gets more fo the features we expect, it'll get as bogged down as allthe other browsers out there.
Why? I'm by no means a vegetarin (just got back from lunch at Outback), but making a sport out of killing bothers me. Same reason I don't go kicking small animals for the fun of it.
Where I work, The United States Institute of Peace, we have each of our printers named with the room number, and the name of a Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Man, they never even shipped those flaming laptops, it was something they found in the QA stages, and used the older style batteris that did not cause a powerbook to nuke itself.
Sorry, but no on #2. Technically, best buy isn't imprisoning anyone (although that would be kind of neat).
Theobiology?! Now thats funny.
The police arent 100% effective either, but I'm sure glad we have em.

Or you could actually spent time with your kid, or ask your fmaily (but not crazy uncle Bob) to watch him.

I still fin that odd, since OSX is build with unicode support, just MS didn't use it, they made thier own psudeo-linguistic support.

And linux has what?

right, but between this, and apple's 500 page one that totally uninteligable, thats all thhte documentation that can be found.
Don't feel bad, even those of us that are sys admins are still having a fair amount of trouble usng NetInfo. NetInfo's what we need more tutorials on.
Agreed. This is the sort of thing that should be added on to the sale, required afterwords. Just what people need, another reason not to recycle.
Well, he's the guy O'reilly uses to write thier books on macs, if that any indication. So, yes, yes he is any good.
It what we do in the US to chicken half time as well.
