To clarify, you did list leaving you alone for 24 hours as the "best" thing they could do for you. Coming in second was spending time with you. So, yes, I did read the comment. And I re-read it.
Never underestimate the joy that small radio control devices bring. Most hobby stores are carrying affordable "USA flag" radio control blimps right now. This will be enjoyed not only this sunday, but also July 4. If you're not American, then helicopters and cars are also generally appreciated, and can be had for not much money. For the dads, try to actually have some *fun* with your kids, and put stress behind you for a day. Trust me, your kids will appreciate it too.
I found that most of the struggles I was having with Perl were because the ORA books (and I have nearly all the perl ones) are not really that good. Some of them are, but the beginner books most definately are not. An example is the Coriolis Perl black book. You'll learn a damn sight more with that one that "learning perl" or "programming perl". Also, the Roth books are way better for Win32 perl. But that's another kettle of bananas entirely....
Though there aren't as many applications as you'd get for the Palm, for example, they really are way more powerful. But I couldn't see a single calendar application, let alone one that will sync with outlook. And that's a serious omission, that would stop my company from looking at it for development. If only Mozilla, or even netscape back in the day, could have worked with some free calendar server, it would have brought up some serious choices against exchange.
Theo's comment suggests that commits to the core CVS are being done during this event - that's an impressive application of technology, if so. I wonder how this is funded. Still, you have to admire the singlemindedness of the team.
I love my Palm VIIx, but the following would make it better - ruggedized case, rechargeable batteries, plug-in solar charger, and like with all Palms except the SONY, higher resolution. As someone here once said "just so I can't see the pixels!". I don't need color, or more storage.
Man, we sure got a bunch of turds posting today. This is an excellent, well thought out piece of work. I'd appreciate more detail on the cron stuff on the site tho'...
... in fact than killing thousands of office workers and plane passengers! Fuck islam. The sooner mecca is nuked, the sooner we are done with the evil that is the muslim "faith".
I've had this one, twice, a few years ago. I've also had, 3 times, invoices from the UK (I'm in a California large company), for "expenses" for a "consultant", (travel and minor fees, total around $2000) that were bogus. I think the invoices are sent en masse to large companies, with the expectation they will be paid without questioning.
Surely your average BSD system has plenty of free content in it's core - and it's the same kind of tools and utilities. When I do ls on my BSD box, isn't it compiled from the same source? Why doesn't RMS go after the BSD teams and try to get them to call it GNU/*BSD ? Maybe the "90% FSF" figure for your average distro is not really correct....
He died, while dressed in womens clothing, attempting to asphyxiate himself with a noose, to "get off". Oh, wait a minute, that wasn't the noble Turing, that was an MP - a member of the British Parliament, in the late 80's. doh! Funny how the British Govt. changed it's "policy" when it was their own rectums involved....
I would think the release of Apache 2.0, which lacks php or mod_perl, the two most prominent web scripting environments, renders it to be the least useful or relevant apache release ever. Why would an IIS site ever consider switching - security has always been low on the totem pole for IIS admins, they are looking for domain integration, and other windows interfaces. Which, of course, Apache lacks. Other than the fact it now runs better on OS/2 than before, and has a BEOS port, there's little incentive to "upgrade" or switch. And those examples are only partially facetious.
I've been an obedient windows slave for years now, but I've decided, damnit, I'm going to stand up for myself! I, I, I'm going to THEME my desktop! There, I said it! And you can't stop me, Bill! Please - don't stop me, Bill... (sob) I can't afford XP yet, bwah-hah-hah, I just can't afford it yet. I promise I'll have the money soon, I just need a little more time! Pleeaaaaase!
Everything Palm does is better done by other companies, but, damn it, why does no-one else do wireless internet? It's the only thing that keeps me on it.
SAMBA development should continue. Here's why. Many companies buy into an MS solution, and find that there's problems with it. Their MCSE/balloon sculptors are trained to think that the way to solve problems is by paying for an upgrade. SAMBA allows them to replace NT/W2K servers at no cost, and then STAY with a reasonably well working setup. No need for the upgrade tax. I have used SAMBA for years now, and we've pushed it hard, and despite some minor issues, it's held up much more successfully than the less stressed NT servers around it. Our IT group pushed for an AD "upgrade" because they couldn't solve their reliability problems. They got the funding, and guess what? Now they have a whole new set of problems they don't understand! Meanwhile, my SAMBA boxen are just chugging along fine. My problem is now the fucked up 2.4 kernel supplied with RH7.2, when on SMP.... But, bottom line, I saved my group over $30k in licensing, and we got to spend it on quality hardware.
I bought an LH4 (Quad CPU, dual RAID array) and it was certified for RH 6.2. Worked like a champ. However, it is simply incapable of running the 2.4 kernel supplied with RH 7.2 - 2.2 was superb. Before I go ahead and really dick with a custom kernel, on this production machine, is there anyone out there who's running 2.4 successfully on one of these beasts? Or *BSD ?
you could contact small businesses, and say "hey, if you don't pay us $$$, we will post a story about you that will result in your entire years bandwidth allowance being used up by lunchtime!!!"
"Why can't the government get a search warrant or goto a judge if they want to see my emails. ". That's a provocative statement, do you have any actual evidence to back it up? Last I heard, this is just a deliberate distortion of the truth.

thanks for the correction!
why would I take advice on the automotive industries cad use from a guy who doesn't drive anything newer than 50 years old?

Carly Fiorina just announced that hp would be shutting down handhelds.org "I didn't realize we'd left something useful out there" she commented.

Has anyone gotten a 2.4 kernel correctly working on one of these? 2.2 was fine. How about *bsd?
