Not only will you give them a much more useful work for the dollar (if the million nodes they wanted instead just have them just one dollar, they could easily buy a supercomputer), it will also save the environment by not using electricity by a million inefficient home desktop machines.

Using copyright to browbeat WikiLeaks or individuals is trying to create secrets. Using the GPL to force violators to open their code is also advocating openness.

Welcome to the neighborhood. This has been Comcast's MO since they inherited the system from AT&T, who operated it exactly the same way. AT&T expanded the original cable internet system from TCI when they bought it. They promised that prices would go down as subscribers went up, but the opposite has been true for the last decade. Comcast has certainly raised the bar for screwing their customers, and they know they have them by the balls as most of the areas do not have the option of DSL or FIOS. I predict that once Verizon finds an efficent way of rolling FIOS out en masse, you will see Comcast begin to die a slow and painful death here.

Yes, every damn day people in "first world" countries get sent home without sufficent treatment. Note that I say "sufficent". At least in the US, no matter if you dont have insurance they must treat you. But treat is different from cure. Many doctors are of the mind "oh darn there is nothing we can do, here have some morphine to enjoy your last few days" or "well we have this cure, but it is going to hurt much worse then just dying, so you might as well not take it." It makes me sick, but that is the state of our healthcare system. The people that care if you survive aren't the ones making decisions.

Indeed, disrespect being the opposite of respect, not just the lack of it. It should not be common unless you feel a particular need to live in a culture of disrespect.

That certianly applies to "Fuck You", but fuck is a far more versitle word then to waste it on that use. For instance, if I told someone in all honesty that that they were "A Fucking Genious", there would be an underpinning of respect. Curse words themselves imply a sense of crudeness, but not necessarily disrespect.

That being said... I think it would be more productive for lawmakers to just close the loopholes instead of having the practice defined as "immoral" or "sinful". Corporations do not have morals, however they do know the concept of "illegal" and "lawsuit". Hit them where the wallet hurts, and they will stop.
