For non unix users, dd can be used to copy a file bit for bit. Since Everything Is a File, you can copy a file to a harddrive without using a filesystem.
Considering Canabis is perhaps the easiest plant to grow (provided you live in a country where the growing has been decriminalised) It would certainly be a complete waste of time to extract THC from the ground (if thats even possible).
PS: THC is one of the working chemicals in marijuana.

Are you sure that you have an remote control style IR port built in? Most laptops ship with IRDA style IR ports, these are designed for communication with other laptops, palmtops, mobile phones, etc.

Teach them some basic linux stuff... how to boot in and use kde/gnome/etc. Show them a dumb linux terminal and how to use it. oh, and tell them about RTF.

sure... an .exe file everyone could run... have you had your pills today? a perl script runs on many more platforms then any .exe file.
if you save a file as rtf and change the extension to .doc word will open it without complaining.
