I would pay $1.99 on a regular basis to download "free" broadcast television shows...
1. that I found out about after missing the broadcast 2. or that I just plain forgot to watch or record.
My guess is that a content provider could expect about $10 of my business @$2 per pop on a monthly basis for such stuff. This is about what I spend now renting movies from Blockbuster per month.
Easy counter measures, not worth killing whales.

This is like shooting down missles with lasers; just make a shiny missile and the light bounces off without damaging it. Not worth the trouble of building the laser device because it would quickly be ineffective if the enemy knew you had such a device.
You can probably render the sound blast torpedo killer worthless just by skinning the torpedos in cheap appropriately sound absorbing material. Perhaps a derivative of foam or rubber.
However, the sea mammals have no countermeasure over their ears.

Dude, do you have to work that contentious subject into every thread no matter how thin the connection? You are giving me an ulcer! (Maybe I'll get a Nobel citation in 20 years for discovering this ulcer causing item.)
Web hosted office applications is cool for a few things but not cool for most things.
Do law offices want to create all their documents online, hosted God-knows-where and visible to unknown techs with access to the servers? This would probably be a negligent breach of confidentiality in many cases.
With the exception of Slashdot, most people normally write docs and spreadsheets for a limited audience and would be uncomfortable not knowing who was reading it.
I'll keep a local copy thank you. But if I am on the road and need to do a small non-confidential thing quick, I might consider an online office product.
>> These planes are going to be traveling at multiple times the speed of sound.
No, they are not faster than sound. You can tell from the illustrations of the modified VarEz that this is not a faster-than-sound craft: the front airfoil is not swept back. That is a very important detail.
The single prop WW2 P52 Mustang could go much faster. Most fighers of that age could.
What these toys lack in top speed, however, they will probably make up for in acceleration. I wonder what the 0 to 230MPH time is like in one of these little rocket planes?
SOA is a "hot" acronym for an old and valuable idea. An SOA approach emphasizes a loose coupling between components of a system. When done right, the result is a solution that is more adaptable to changes because a change in one component does not necessitate changes in others. (Examples of tight couplings include systems where SQL queries are embedded throughout all components. Change the database and you need to change a lot.)
The most obvious example of SOA is Web Services, but that is just using specific set technologies to deliver an SOA solution.
Something special about the Web Services approach is that the vehicle for the loose coupling between components is XML. Unlike some other technologies, it is possible to involve subject matter experts rapidly and usefully in XML design because this can be done with minimal instruction. (We are not talking about creating DTDs or XSDs here, just the functional content and hierarchy of the communications.)
>>Find some other smart guys in your company, and team up to review each others' work, share ideas, and build a common set of best practices.
Getting smart people collaborating on a project is a great idea no matter what the methodology. (Methodologies are a poor substitute for talent.)
A Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a software implementation that delivers information services via loosely coupled interfaces that are accessible by non-proprietary tools and products.
Note: The US has ZERO modern designs in operation -- we still use highly dangerous designs from the 50's and 60's
This is not the case in France and a few other countries. They could easily leverage existing nuclear plants to produce hydrogen for themselves and for export. Perhaps the US does not need new nuclear plants as long as Americans are willing to import the hydrogen like is done with oil today.
The new company will keep the last three letters of each name and will be known as Int-Tel. They will be dropping the low end service plans and low end phones.

And the Microsofts of this world don't like GPL or anything like it.
This is not a problem for Linux. It is a problem for companies like Microsoft. End of non-story.
