I understand the distinction and would like to point out that I warned you that it was a rant.

What my point was, is that we are decrying the killing of civilians left and right and using it as a justification to kill civilians. We are not helping them by killing them. We are killing them.

You are right sometimes war is the only solution, but do you really believe that was the case this time. Maybe we could have spent a bit more time seeing if there really were WMD's before we ran in waving the flag waiting for the flowers to litter the path of our soldiers.

This was not a justified war. The White House chose to use faulty evidence that they knew much of the intelligence community disagreed with.

I believe in an earlier post you said that this war was also stratigic. We went in to stabalize the region not now, but twenety years from now. If that is the case then does that mean you agree with the administrations idea of nation building. Do you really think it is the job of the USA to set up Democratic goverments by force throughout the world.

Sorry I'm all over the place with this. I'm posting on breaks. I know I didn't hit on some of your points, I'll try to hit them when I get home this evening.

Some of the things that you refrence even the Bush administration has said aren't true. OK city was a case of domestic terrorism, the 9/11 committee says Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. I'm not sure how you link the others with Iraq, but I highly doubt the actual facts back you up considering the other things you have asserted.

As someone else has already pointed out we are there now and Saddam was a real shit, but saying that we are there for untrue reasons helps no one.

Oh, I do agree with you that Reagan did a lot to put us in this situation. That is another thing that worries me about this administration, they seem to think Reagan was some kind of god. Reagan gave us American sponsered terrorists, Saddam gassing his people and Iran, and a huge recession in the late 80's with fiscal policies that Bush is trying to reinstate.

    Sorry about the rant.

The flaw in a democratic society is that perception and not reality are what politicians are judged on. These are the same folks who come screaming that the goverment needs to protect them from their own stupidity.

I can give you a case in point. I work construction during the summers, while I was going to a job we had to stop at the security gate to get through. Now the security person is a real bitch, but thats ok because thats what they pay her for. Well the job gets postponed till that afternoon so we leave and come back. Security is a dick again and after I told her three times where I was going I just pulled through. Again this was annoying, but these people are paying for security. Security calls the cop that is patroling this neighborhood and only this neighborhood. The cop pulls me over and asks why I ran the security gate and when I tell him what happened he just nods and says to go ahead. Apperently he is used to the idiocy of the security guard.

Now what pissed me off is that I have friend that live on the bad side of town and they cant get the police to show for at least 45 minutes, this gated community has their own cop in a squad car, on duty no less 24/7. Then I realize something else, the roads are publicly maintained as is the sewer in this neighborhood. You cannot block off public roads, but since these people know the right people in local goverment they get their own extra services and I get to pay for it.

I admidt my logic wasnt at its best when I typed my respones last night, but I think idiots is a bit much.

Lets start with my first point which you failed to address. If you need to make things up or stretch the truth to convince people you are right then you need to accept the fact that their is a good possibility that you are wrong, as in this case. That's why scientific journals insist on peer review. The administration ignored the peer review because it was not what they wanted to here. They were dishonest so that they could get people to believe what they wanted them to believe. Which is a lot of what propaganda is.

As to the morality issue, you can help whoever the hell you want. My point is that the administrations of this country, Democrat and Republican, love to say that they are doing all kinds of things because its moral or its right or its the Christian thing to do. The truth this country will deal with the devil if we think it is advantageous to do so. You may be familiar with a middle eastern dicatator who we supplied weapons to while he was using Weapons of Mass Destruction. You may also want to look into the folks that went over to see him and make sure he go what he needed.

I'm not trying to say that the US should be fine and altruistic. I'm saying that this country needs to be honest as much as possible to allow for the proper workings of democracy. The more voters know and understand the issues and the stance of their leaders on those issues the better prepared to vote that individual is.

If the truth is not a strong enough case to go to war on then maybe you should not go to war.

On an unrelated note the next time anyone in the administration says that, "we had a moral imperative to go to war", I want them to explain why we don't have a moral imperative to stop the genocide in Sudan. If you want to claim morality as a justification then genocide should to your list of moral outrages.

It seems a bit diproportionate to allocate votes based simmply on geography. That is part of the problem now. Most of the population in the country lives in more populous areas, you would be taking more of the power from the mojority and giving it to the minority.
